Oh my goodness. What a gem. Absolutely perfect. This woman understands doing the basics exceptionally well. Cod is absolutely fresh. Breading is indeed light, so you don't feel so full... it's light tasting and light feeling. The fries are a delightful cross between a potato chip and a French fry. And the prices are extremely reasonable given the high quality. Decor is very sparse, no chachkis or trinkets or "themes". Let the food speak for itself As if that's not enough, the whole place is as clean as an operating room. Congratulations on a beautiful business and great food.
We eat next door at Anejo a lot, and that is how we found Jax Fish Fry. I am so glad we finally tried it. The restaurant is immaculately clean, and the food was delicious. We were warmly greeted by the gentleman behind the counter. Everything was freshly prepared in front of us. My husband ordered the lobster roll, and I had the fish and chips basket. We also tried the coconut cake and key lime pie. All the food was delicious. The lobster roll is on the smaller side, but it was packed with lobster. The fish and chips were very fresh, tender, and not greasy. The key lime pie was excellent. We will definitely be back. My only word of advice is the portions are on the smaller side, so if you are super hungry or have big eaters in your household, I would suggest ordering a side dish as well.

excellent food, friendly staff. will return
Lobster roll is delicious! I called to place an order to-go, but they don’t take orders over the phone. You can place an order to-go once you are there or go online and order through DoorDash for pickup which is what I ended up doing. The hush puppies and yummy as well. Will def be coming back for more lobster rolls!

Nice place but a little on the expensive side. The food was good and at the time we went it wasn't to busy. Place was nice and clean.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! It was very clean both inside and at the outdoor dining area, I was warmly greeted by the staff and the chicken/shrimp basket was DELICIOUS!
I’ll definitely be coming here more often ?

This is an order at the counter place, then sit and wait for your name. That's ok, place was extremely clean. Owner was very friendly, she checked in with us after we started to eat. Food was really good. Had lobster roll, was fresh and a lot of lobster meat. Cod was very very fresh! Clam strip good, no rubber bands, that's nice. Will come back

Just ate at this place for the first time. Food was fresh, lightly breaded and fried (seemed to be a healthy option). Different type of french fries, delicious! Friendly staff and service. We will be back soon and often!

My best friend and I ate here for dinner. We were looking for something to eat in the area so we chose this place after passing on other choices in the shopping center. You never know what you’re going to get when it comes to these food establishments that serve fried sea food. ( or seafood in general) I have to be honest and say I’ve passed this place up plenty of times and I’m glad today was the day we tried it out. I had shrimp in a roll that came w fries and my Bf had the fish and chips. She’s not a seafood person but she enjoyed every bit of what she ate as did I. We should’ve taken pics! We will be back!

Been hearing about this spot and it came up on "seafood near me" in a search. We went to the St John's location off I95 and S.R. 210.
The owner (Dori, i think) was there working. She was so hospitable. The food is made-to-order and the menu is small.
Lobster Roll
Fried shrimp, fried Cod, fried clam strips. Handhelds as well with the same fish.
We got the lobster roll with onion rings with an add of clay strips and a shrimp basket.
The clams were fried perfectly and not at all chewy. The lobster roll was good. The star IMO was the shrimp. Lightly battered and gently fried. Onion rings were good but very crunchy. Coleslaw is delicious; someplace between a cool Creamy slaw and a vinegary slaw. So good!
Desserts are made in house by the owner and so good! Definitely a must try spot!

Fantastic quality. Everything was lightly fried and packed with flavor. The shrimp are huge, crispy and without tails. I often want to drive to the Florida Key’s for some proper shrimp… this saves me the trip (thank you). The tartar sauce tastes exactly how you hope it will. Love the thin-sliced fries too which seem to come unsalted which is great as I can add my own level. Restaurant was super clean… you can tell they have a mindful eye on that. Staff is great, no matter how busy it gets they seem calm and totally under control. I’ll definitely go back when the seafood urge hits.
Parking: There’s even a few parking spots in the back which are great for takeout.

Ice/water from the soda machine is undrinkable, tastes awful. Obviously hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time or they’re getting their water from a well. They got our order wrong. The food was mediocre at best. Shrimp had the texture of rubber and had no flavor, crisp, or crunch. Will not be returning.
Venue’s tables and floors were clean, though, so can’t give 1 star.
Unbelievable places like this are not only surviving, but apparently thriving. Indicates how low the bar is here in Northeastern Florida.
Edit: The owner left a hilarious reply to this review essentially blaming us for all their faults. The owners make us sound like we were obnoxious and crazy; we weren’t. I’m under no obligation to have you fix all the things you got wrong at the restaurant while I’m there, if I have to ask for you to fix something you’ve already failed. The review reflects my experience as any customer would have. The idea that this company is selling a premium product is probably the most laughable claim of all, though. They’re obviously actively hostile to any feedback. Going from 2 stars to 1 star.

Good news is they do not over fry the seafood. It’s tasty! But… be forewarned the coleslaw is made with red wine vinegar and zero mayo or sugar. It’s probably not the coleslaw to which you are accustomed. Dining room is clean but very basic. Baskets have twice as much ch seafood as the po boys / rolls / hand helds / sandwiches. Great looking desserts but we didn’t try them.
