Finally had time to drop by Muddy Water Kava. Their Google reviews were great and it's not too far from home.
I was not disappointed. Before ordering I explained to Zen, the kavatender/barista, that kava was new to me. She went out of her way to introduce the drink itself, the culture surrounding it, the different styles, and other fascinating background.
The vibe was great, as well. Every customer who came through the door was greeted by their name. Zen knew their favorite drink. Clearly they have dedicated return customers. The patrons who aren't working happily share their favorite way to enjoy kava.
It was easy to simply hang out and enjoy the afternoon. I'll be back.

I was cleaning out the cabinets and I stumbled upon a muddy water hydroflask… unused and I thought what a waste! I’m writing a review a year later from the time I was “tricked” into buying a big $80 hydroflask. We called muddy water’s one day to ask ahead of time if they sold large quantities of Kava and get pricing. The associate over the phone told us only the price of the kava… NOT that you buy a canteen for $80 and then buy the Kava on top of that. We went down there and it was the same woman as the person on the phone. She SPECIFICALLY did not tell us we were buying a hydroflask canteen to go with our Kava until she handed us the bill and the flask (we had already asked about pricing over the phone AND in person and she didn’t mention paying an additional 80+, not once.). $80 for the flask plus around $30 for the drink. She had already made it, we were uncomfortable and embarrassed and bought the darn thing. Now I will forever have this $80 hydro flask that I will never use and was tricked into getting yikes! We’ve never been back to muddy waters. Also doesn’t help the lady said the marketing and the $80 hydroflasks were her idea. It was all a huge scam from a person trying to prove to her boss that her idea worked. The best way to get someone to never go back to your establishment is to have them unexpectedly pay an extra $80 than they expected to when walking in.

I have been coming here for a short period of time and it's better everyt time I come in. Special shout out to Zack (the drink tender). Zack is not only very welcoming but is professional to boot. Recently he found out it was my birthday and he helped me celebrate. Just showing how your more than just a number to them. I do also like the other tenders. highly recommend muddy waters! Hope to see you here!

I feel as if I have found a hidden gem! The red velvet gluten-free brownie hit the spot and I washed it down with cup of Kava. I sat in the outdoor area and felt quite at home and like I was with others that had the a common mood and groove. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a calm and peaceful place to congregate with friends or just enjoy a solo moment reflecting on the day.
