Unmatched vibe! Good music, friendly folk, respectful and graceful owner. Wow. Simply beautiful 🫶🏽 This place is an experience.

Worst banana pudding ever!!!! How do you make banana budding with cheap off brand wafers!!!

Went to get me a desert, first they didn’t have change, ok no issue, so I got the banana pudding how do you use cheap off brand vanilla wafers in banana pudding I was so disappointed yuck so nasty

3rd experience since moving to Sanford 2 yrs ago. The food has been OK just inconsistent from the time I started till now. If there is an increase in price, make sure the food matches. The pictures can be a bit deceiving as a former restaurant worker. Three pieces of fish only equals one when you see it it’s the size of your fingers yet I paid for price of 2 people.

This is a beautiful welcoming atmosphere. My friend and I had the EXTREME pleasure of meeting Ms. Shantell and she was An absolute angel. She has an amazing spirit and a wealth of knowledge/history. Support this business because beautiful people with amazing great food is not easy to find.

Tonight was my first time ordering from this establishment and I have to say that I am very glad that I did. The people are Very welcoming and kind. The atmosphere is beautifully surrounded by African artwork and relaxing music, great lighting in a beautiful dining room. The food was awesome. The fried chicken was seasoned perfectly and was nice and crispy outside while juicy inside. The collard greens was finger licking good and the cornbread was sweet and moist. The rice and black eye peas is a must have, cooked to perfection and perfectly flavorful. Last but certainly not least the fried green tomatoes were absolutely delicious and a compliment to the rest of the meal. While picking up my order I was given a taste of the candied yams which were also super delicious. I will definitely have order some on my next visit.
If you're looking for some delicious comfort food this is absolutely the place to go. The best part was there was NO PORK in any of the sides making it all the more better for someone following a biblically clean dietary law.

Tonight was me and my wifes first time eating at shantell's and I'm glad we did because the food was delicious, soon as I walked in the energy and the atmosphere was very welcoming we sat down to wait on or order and the chef brought out some cornbread and some yams and from the taste of that I knew the food was going to be delicious we will be returning for more 😋.
