First time visiting this restaurant while in town. We decided to go to this restaurant because of the specific items on the menu.
Our waiter was superb and the food was outstanding. Definitely will consider going back when I visit Sanford again.

Tried this piece for the first time after having heard good things. Here is my take. The theme inspired atmosphere is great. The brick walls, barred windows, dim lighting, and jail cells hit exactly the mark they were aiming for. Our server was pleasant and attentive. I had the mushroom gnocchi and my wife had the steak. Both dishes were a touch under seasoned but nothing that a dash of salt couldn’t fix and my gnocchi were just a hair overcooked. That having been said, after adding a touch of salt, the rich and savory flavors were brought forward and I enjoyed every bite of my ample serving. My wife’s steak was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Overall, I would recommend you give this place a try.

The place itself is beautiful and service was fantastic. Food was another story. Extremely overpriced and food was awful. The steak tasted burnt and the pasta was not fully cooked. It was a one and done for us however we would come back for just the cocktails.

Tonight was the first time the wife and I had a meal at the Old Jailhouse. The experience was great. It’s snuggled into a great location I. Sanford. We were there with friends and had great food, drinks and conversation. Highly recommended to everyone!!

Try it...,you will love it! Provides a unique environment with excellent service and food. Easy free parking nearby. We were greeted and informed of the history of the place by a very pleasant and efficient server. This was followed by suggestions regarding food choices and drinks. We shared the amazing empanadas followed by a delicious Caesar salad and for the main entree, we enjoyed a perfectly cooked, juicy, New York Strip steak with crisp green beans and whipped potatoes. Definitely make a reservation!

The Old Jailhouse Kitchen and Spirits in Sanford is a hidden gem! The historic jail setting creates an unforgettable vibe, blending old-world charm with a modern twist. The architecture alone is worth the visit, with original cell doors, brickwork, and subtle nods to its past adding character and depth. The cocktails are outstanding, creative, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the whole experience feels special. A must-visit. We will for sure be back.

Underwhelmed. We had been wanting to try this for a while since moving to Sanford. Waited 45 minutes for our lunch and server only came back to the table one time. Ended up asking another server to take our check.

What a great little restaurant staff was super friendly and their steak mac & cheese was amazing. My friend had the salmon and rice and she enjoyed it!! Definitely a fun place to go!

We have season tickets to Westend Theatre and have been doing to JH for dinner before every show and have brought a group. Dylan has always been our server and is one of the best in the business. Beside being a very kind and gentle young man We feel like you are no longer aware that you have competition because nothing ever changes on the menu. There has been a special once in three years. We have had almost every on the menu and after last night- that was enough. In my opinion you all need to up your game or you will not have a loyal repeat customer base.
