Took our family there for a snack and drink while the live music played. It’s a fun ambiance and they have daily live music. My husband got the watermelon salad without cheese and it was awesome! I was skeptical as we have tried different meals with cooked watermelon before that were downright disgusting, but I was very happily surprised at the great flavor and texture that their grilled watermelon salad had. The kids just got sides on fries, which are curly steak fries and were good. There is a veggie pasta dish that can be made vegan, but we didn’t try it this time. The staff were all very friendly and knew what vegan meant and were accommodating. Probably not the best place for a full meal unless everyone in the group wants the veggie pasta, but we will definitely go again for drinks and snacks.
We stopped in on Friday after a long day at the Sanibel beach, and after thinking it was to good to be true, we returned on Saturday just to be sure! Cajun & Creole is my absolute favorite food so I couldn’t wait to try this place! I was amazed from the start! The atmosphere is awesome with authentic New Orleans feel and decor! There is outdoor seating, balcony seating, and 2 floors of indoor seating. But the food is where we were really amazed! We tried just about everything on the menu from appetizers to deserts. The Bayou Shrimp were huge and the freshest quality I’ve had. The Shrimp Cargot were also amazing. Not sure if the Remoulade is made in house but it is phenomenal! We tried the Chicken and Andouille Gumbo and it was loaded with both! We also had the Crab & Corn bisque and there had to be a pound of crabmeat in each bowl! It was soooooo good!!! All of the pastas were great! My son had the crawfish Mac & cheese twice! The swamp pasta was one of the most diverse dishes I’ve ever had and possibly the best dish I’ve ever had! I did add a crab cake to it for a few extra dollars. The shrimp Po boy had 12 giant fried shrimp and thin cut pickles (I hate pickles but these were toooo good not to eat!). Again it came with the amazing Remoulade! The catfish Po boy had 4 LARGE fillets of perfectly fried Cajun catfish, lettuce, pickles and of course Remoulade. My wife got the shrimp platter and had them shaken in Buffalo Sauce with a side of the ranch. We wrapped up with the Cajun Beignets drizzled with chocolate and they were the best I’ve ever had! Can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m pretty sure Mudbugs is now officially my favorite restaurant on earth! I wish we had tried it sooner and ate there a few more times! I can’t wait to go back and try the Ribeye dragged through the Bayou! (Dragged through the Bayou is cooked with Cajun Garlic butter and covered in crawfish tails or shrimp ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️) The drinks were great! The atmosphere is awesome! The staff was very friendly, quick and very precise! Location is on the main road and the parking is very convenient. I wish I had pictures to share, but honestly we were too hungry to stop for pictures and everything was soooooo good that we didn’t wait for the camera to come out! I cannot wait to get back!
We were very excited to try mudbugs. We were seated quickly and the atmosphere was inviting. They had live music which was a little loud for our little ones but enjoyable for the adults. We had 6 people in our party and order was taken fairly quickly. The food was okay I just expected more out of the meal for the price of the dish. My husband had the shrimp boil and when it came out it included the heads and wasn't de-veined. I feel as though that should be mentioned on the menu. Overall we were satisfied however I do believe our waitress may have been newer as she didn't check on the table and she forgot things often. I feel like we would try this restaurant again with a smaller party and no kids.
Kid-friendliness: I would recommend this as an adult restaurant.

The Caesar salad was nice but too much dressing but the Grouper on top was GREAT. Gretchen the bartender was a PRO. The Grouper sandwich was super nice

Popular place with musical entertainment. I thought this would be perfect place for jambalaya. What I got was a brown pasty blend of rice with very small portions of sausage and chicken embedded in it. There was virtually no separation between the rice grains. Two slices of toast were vertically anchored in this mush, like tombstones. Totally unappealing and certainly not freshly made. Not going back.

Excellent food but a little over-priced in my opinion.

We sat on the 2nd floor, very cool vibe. Food was good not great. Little pricey for the jambalaya. The clam chowder very average. We had a great server checking often. The accordion player was loud and even walked close to a few tables. The background music was better. The chairs were very uncomfortable, you sat so low at the table. I will probably sit outside next time as the upper outside Terrace looks very nice. The grouper sandwich was very good and well done. I would dine here again.

Update: this place isn’t as good as it used to be. We ordered the char-grilled oysters and bayou and they were both extremely salty, almost inedible. The watermelon salad and gnocchi were okay, nothing special. The mojito tasted like water.
2021: Chargrilled oysters are absolutely amazing!!! The Asiago Gnocchi on the special menu was delicious. The Grilled Watermelon Salad was tasty. Good dessert items as well.

Great food unfortunately the portion sizes were very small for the price and they charged an auto 20% gratuity which is a ridiculous practice.

Mudbugs in Sanibel Island has a lively atmosphere with great vibes and live music. I appreciated the vegetarian options, which is rare for a Cajun spot. The Fried Green Tomatoes and Veggie Pasta were both delicious. However, the service was underwhelming, which took away from the experience. While I enjoyed the food and ambiance, I wouldn’t return.

Amicable staff, but the food was subpar. The rice was hard, the clam chowder was lacking flavor.

This was a depressing meal..
Our favorite dish, blackened grouper in bowtie pasta with a creamy Cajun sauce has been reduced to a slightly seasoned macaroni and cheese with a piece of grouper on top.
Normally I advocate for more cheese in everything, but this just made me sad.
The jambalaya was just like we remembered, and the red beans and rice were great.
Had the food come before the appetizer and that was a little weird but it was very fast and good overall. Perhaps because we didn't realize they close so early now at 8:30.
I have to say that the mesh covering for the doors and porch to keep bugs out is a very nice touch.
The parking lot lights are blinding and right in your eyes when trying to park.
The beef sandwich got more expensive and from what I can see, the quality looks like it went down
Still love this place.
Still great good overall.
Still a fantastic experience.
Be back soon
Vegetarian options: There are a lot of great vegetarian options on the menu. This place rocks and a vegan could love it here
Parking: Extremely bright lights pointed at your eyes while trying to park

Had appetizers and drinks here. The appetizers were okay. The pork in our appetizes tasted old, and everything was under seasoned. Drinks were decent.
