Last night we ate at Down Island Seafood restaurant in Santa Rosa Beach. The owner Stefani sat us down and when we told her we were vegan her eyes lit up. She’s a registered dietician and she’s dairy-free herself. Stefani talked with us throughout our time there even though we had a great server, and she went over all the options they could veganize and other things the kitchen could create for us off-menu.

This must be one of the best kept secrets in the Santa Rosa Beach area. Words cannot describe our delight in finding this place and, once we found our way there, we went twice during our stay in the area. The restaurant building itself is fresh and cozy with both a first floor and upstairs dining area.
