Decent little place, read other reviews before going. Some of the lower star reviews reference, food, containers, tips, etc. I think compared to many of the other places locally, this place is cheaper in comparison. As such, the food will also be a lower quality but is still very good and filling.
Service was fine, I felt no need to tip as they only take your order at the register. You pick it up and clean up. I would go back. However, I would bring my own bottle of water as a soda is $4, and juice is $5. Seems overpriced for drinks.

Meh. Everything looked like it would be great, and I was excited to eat it, but then it all tasted…stale. Day-old sourdough bread and bacon that’s “just okay”- really ruins a lunch. Atmosphere is good. Prices okay. Won’t be back though.

Was there last Wednesday, ordered shrimp and grits. My wife was sick 2 hrs after eating and suffering from diarrhea 5 days later. Warning about shell fish! Was it fresh, frozen, or farm raised from china.

this delicious spot goes down as our find of the year. Such a great surprise. We found ourselves in the area, looking for a spot to stretch our legs while on the road and Google brought us to Watercolor. After a lovely walk around the park and the village, it was time for lunch. We had previously attempted to search out a place nearby to find good Southern biscuits without success. So that’s what we decided to look for today. And amazingly, we found Scratch 250 feet away!
We entered to find a small town beachy vibe, indoor and patio dining, and a menu of enticing options that included dishes beyond just biscuits. The prices are extremely reasonable based on our two weeks on the road. The Lunch Box deal seems like a screaming deal. Scratch also serves alcohol should you be in the mood for a festive brunch. The biscuits here are a bit different than many southern style biscuits we have enjoyed in the past. Baked square, lighter and fluffier than some of the denser types from say the Carolinas or Georgia. Lightly crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Marvelous.

After perusing the menu (and watching a delicious looking order of the Griddle Cakes go by), my DW chose the Arugula Salad with Strawberries, Tomatoes, and Candied Pecans with a biscuit on the side. My choice was the Biscuit and Gravy with sausage patty. I tried to overcomplicate it by asking for the sausage and the gravy on one side of the biscuit so as to be able to try half with some butter or jam but the very personable Michelle just said they would put the gravy on the side and let me do things my own way. Brilliant. The biscuits, while a bit on the crumbly side, were divine. Whether with Honey Butter, Strawberry Jam, or warm Sausage Gravy we loved every bite. The salad came with Honey Balsamic dressing that was excellent with the berries and nuts. My biscuit held up well under the thick gravy. And the sausage they use here is very tasty also.

Michele came over to our table to check and see that we were happy and we enjoyed a nice conversation about the business, our travels this trip, and her history of finding her way to Watercolor. She and the other young lady working on our visit were both the kind of folks it’s a pleasure to find providing customer service these days. If you are anywhere near the area, check out the village and definitely make time to enjoy what Scratch Biscuit Kitchen has to offer.

This place is made for Instagram photos and not actual eating. Everything looks beautiful, until you taste it. The biscuit tastes like wonder bread. Then it crumbles into a pile of sand. The fact that you can literally taste salt in the air, yet they couldn't muster a single grain of the good stuff for my entire meal is nothing short of impressive. The chicken again looked great, but bland would be a compliment. I can say, the small amount of honey tastes like honey. That's how you earned the coveted second star. The price is astronomical also. Gravy is sweet. Gross.

I like the way they set everything up, two registers, got people through the line quickly. Then the biscuit with honey butter was stellar. The grub bowl is recommended, very quick service. Glad we stopped by!

I had high hopes for Scratch Biscuit Kitchen, but unfortunately, it was a big letdown. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy, and we were shocked by how bland everything was. The gravy tasted like plain flour—there was absolutely no flavor. The biscuits themselves were equally disappointing, crumbling apart with ease and lacking any real taste. They even use basic American cheese, which does nothing to showcase the idea that this is a “scratch” kitchen.

If you know what good food is, you’d quickly realize that this isn’t it. Don’t be fooled by the pictures online—this place is highly overrated. Save your time and money, and go somewhere that actually delivers on flavor.

LOVE THIS PLACE soooo much!!! The staff are all SO kind and literally the kindest crew I’ve met in Santa Rosa beach! We go there to see smiling faces more than anything but the food is wonderful I’ve tried quite a few menu items and I haven’t found anything there that I don’t like! We really enjoy this place and the shrimp and grits are a must try!!! I could drink that Cajun gravy…Their biscuits are amazing! Cajun grilled chicken sandwich is my go to item of choice!!! You won’t be disappointed!
