A must stop location when at Siesta Key! A large variety of delicious ice cream! I'm partial to spumoni, which is like the fruitcake of ice cream with the nuts and fruit, plus the chocolate, cherry and pistachio ice cream. Delightful!!

We stopped by Abel’s Ice Cream around 9:20 PM, knowing they closed at 9:30. We fully understood that they were getting ready to close, so we planned to order quickly and not take up much time. However, the attitude from the staff made the experience very unpleasant.
As soon as we walked in, both young workers looked annoyed and whispered to each other. While we were deciding what to order, one of them told us (rather rudely) that they were closing in five minutes and even made hand gestures to hurry up. We told her we understood they wanted to go home soon, but there was no reason to be rude about it. Meanwhile, the other girl was loudly slamming chairs as she stacked them up, making it clear they wanted everyone out.
As we were leaving, about ten more people arrived, and one of the same workers repeated the same hand gestures and comments to hurry up because they were closing soon. We completely understand that employees want to finish their shift and go home, but a little courtesy and professionalism go a long way.
Unfortunately, the attitude from the staff left a bad taste in our mouths — and not from the ice cream. We won’t be returning.

The service definitely needs improvement. I asked for three samples, and the female red-haired employee who was assisting me said, “Be right back,” but then got distracted doing other tasks like grabbing cups and completely ignored me for several minutes. It left me confused about the level of customer service at this ice cream shop — I didn’t feel acknowledged or respected as a customer.
When a couple more people arrived and stood behind me, she finally returned with the samples and asked if I was ready to order. Before I could respond, the woman behind me said she was ready, and the employee went ahead and served her first, leaving me waiting even longer.
I’m sorry, but this level of service is unacceptable. It might be time to reconsider staffing or provide better training.
