I recently dined at this fantastic tapas restaurant, and I can’t recommend it enough! The food is absolutely excellent, bursting with flavor and creativity. I always go there, and every time, I’m transported back to Venezuela with each bite. The owner, who is Venezuelan, brings authentic tastes and traditional recipes that truly resonate with my roots. The vibrant flavors and excellent prices make for a memorable dining experience. If you’re looking for delicious tapas with a heartfelt connection to Venezuelan and Spanish cuisine, this is the place to be! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

We ordered two of the most expensive plates they have… lobster ravioli and Iberico pork plate. We also ordered calamari, a charcuterie plate, and one glass of wine. Our total was $130. The restaurant was not busy or overwhelmed, maybe only 4 or 5 other tables eating when we sat down.

The charcuterie plate was the first that came out, a $29 plate with mixed nuts, 3 different types of meat, two different cheeses, olives and a spicy honey mixture. I understand that this is a tapas restaurant in affluent Sarasota, but this is normal charcuterie plate price for a restaurant and I was not impressed. Both the flavors and the quantities for this dish were underwhelming. The crackers were basically Ritz crackers, which texture and quality-wise took away from the whole thing, as well as the only “bright” flavor being the olives, which had the pit still in them. I would’ve appreciated a fruit or something pickled on this to accompany the rest of the flavors. Next we received calamari, which was overcooked and underseasoned. Chewy and without the sauce had no flavor whatsoever. Finally the ravioli and the pork came out. Ravioli was served with a sauce and a mound of steamed squash, zucchini, and carrots in the middle. Very simple prep on the veggies, no seasoning or butter/oil added. I preferred them over the ravioli themselves, in fact we left one on our plate which I think is the first time I’ve ever left lobster or lobster-filled something on my plate in a restaurant to be taken and thrown away. To be frank it tasted like a lobster seafood dip inside… which is to say it was sweet and the chunks were very small so the experience was not “this is a delicious lobster ravioli”, it was “this could be surimi”. Finally the pork plate. The pork is iberico, which is prized and renown for its inherent flavor because of the diet that the pork subsists on. Acorns, which imparts a very pleasant flavor into the meat. The proper way to prepare such a high quality meat would be to highlight and accentuate the flavor that already exists. This piece of meat was so charred that even 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant, as I sit here and write this review, I still have a char flavor in my mouth. That’s all that could be tasted, the sauce and whatever seasoning was used was impossible to distinguish. Credit where credit is due, the internal temp of the thicker part of the slice they gave us was a nice medium, so with all the char it wasn’t overcooked, it was just overpowering. It was served with a potato au gratin, which was essentially just potato’s and butter… cream was obviously used but it couldnt be tasted, as in it wasn’t creamy… it just tasted like butter and potatoes with very little if any salt. Some bananas/plantains were served on this plate as well, which were pretty good but a little too sweet, more desert instead of accompaniment to a plate.

If this meal was less money I would’ve given it a higher overall rating, but given that every single dish was rife with issues, and the price was on par with other restaurants where I leave at least a little satisfied with some of the food I’ve eaten… I would not recommend nor will I be back.
