Amici is an old reliable for us, but we had not visited in perhaps a year. Still generally quite good (excellent duck, rigatoni); disappointed with mozzarella/tomato appetizer: in August, tomatoes should be outstanding, these were anything but.
For years, Café Amici has been our favorite Italian restaurant in downtown Sarasota. Authentic Italian preparation and skill with Sarasota seafood. Attentive, conversational attendants; and a great present-in-the-restaurant owner. Can't beat this combination.
EXCELLENT as always! My favorite restaurant in Sarasota. We introduce friends each time we go!
We've always enjoyed the food at this restaurant but this recent service experience puts an end to future visits. When I asked the server for another set of silverware (food stuck to my fork and a dirty knife), he was not pleased. After that it went downhill. When our wine arrived, one of the guest's glasses arrived with, yes, food stuck to it. Waiter never told us about any specials and from that point on was rude and clearly not interested in providing service to us. Too bad but there are many, many other restaurants in town these days. Life's too short to accept dirty silverware and glasses as ok at a restaurant.
Enjoyed Mother's Day at Cafe Amici. The food was good but prices high for drinks and food. Save this place for special occasions.
Andre our server has become a family friend, he always takes the most amazing care of our family each time we are here.
From the time we were seated it took 45 minutes until we received our cocktails and some bread, and an hour and 20 minutes until we received our entrees. The place wasn't that crowded and not one apology from the host/owners. Cold and impersonal for an Italian restaurant. The food was good but not good enough to warrant another visit. Mai piu!
Loud (band playing outside), lacked ambiance (sat in side room) and food was okay. Service was very good, positive and upbeat server. Overall disappointed in our experience
Was not informed nor aware that a DJ would be playing music. Made a very expensive dinner significantly less enjoyable.
We did not expect the noise level inside the restaurant. We had a table for 4 and had a hard time hearing each other. The food was good, but my chicken in their Chicken Amici pasta dish was overcooked and tough. The others at our table said their meals were good. Service was very slow with our waiter disappearing for long periods at a time. We finally had to get the owner to help us find him. As to pricing, this us an expensive restaurant.

Always love dining here for the food and knowledgeable waitstaff. This visit was disappointing because our waitress acted like she had never served a table before! Also, there was a large party and the noise level was off the charts! Acoustics are not good here so if you want a quiet dinner, go somewhere else. Food is top notch tho!
Food was ok but Not Special as we expected. Table in the side room felt like a storage room waitress was nice and service was good but don't think I will go back.
The server was so bad. Apparently he didn't feel the need to welcome us or tell us the specials until we asked! Impossible to have a conversation without yelling. Celebrating a special evening was completely ruined by the poor service.
Has the most amazing tortellini dish and the other people in my party also loved their choices. Seriously, order the tortellini in vodka sauce.
Over rated. Food was average at best. There are many better options available in Sarasota.
