We had an excellent meal at the Colombia. Our server Jayden was very attentive and provided wonderful service. Our salads were so fresh and flavorful. I had the chicken and yellow Rice, which was great. My husband enjoyed a seafood special which he hopes will be on the menu again.
First time visiting while in Sarasota. The food and service was the best, what a great place to celebrate a birthday!
From the moment we walked in the host was unfriendly and rude. There were many tables open in the main dining and I asked to be seated there. Instead she tried to seat us on the terrace where it was warm and open. I rejected it and then she seated us in a corner next to a very loud table. The servers were all more interested in that group, rather than us. My 1905 Salad was very wilted with old lettuce, my husbands stuffed shrimp was good. Service was spotty. The restaurant looked dirty. We drove down from St Petersburg hoping our favorite restaurant on St Armand's Circle was as good as prior to the hurricane damage, after reopening, but it definitely was not. There appear to be other good restaurants on the Circle that we will try, since the Columbia was a big disappointment and we don't plan on going back to that location.
Columbia is a favorite, had been fur 30+ years. It's always a treat and always amazing in every way!
Professional & Courteous Waitress Anna. Outstanding service, very knowledgeable about menu and made excellent recommendations for refreshments & specials on menu. Anna was excellent, memorable meal at Columbia because of Anna.
Columbia restaurant made celebrating a kids birthday extremely special from the Card at the beginning to singing and free desserts. It was a memorable experience. The food was delicious and we would definitely recommend coming back.
Server was very busy and got our order wrong.. then took forever to get her attention for the check.. the bread ( which we usually LOVE) was not as good.. 1905 salad and black bean soup were great!
Service was slow our salad came out soggy with our meal. We had to ask for bread when typically they bring it right out. Steak was tough when told server it wasn't good he did nothing about it! Will not be back much better places to spend my $$$
Great place but the food was spicy and too much cumin. Traditional Cuban food is not spicy at all! I was a little disappointed in the Ropa Vieja and especially Picadillo. Spicy for sure and too much cumin! Service and ambience was excellent.
Always an enjoyable dining experience especially with friends. It gets better every time we go. Presentation can't be beat especially when the server prepares the 1905 salad at the table, a work of art. Iced tea glass never got below half full for long. Looking forward to our next visit. The entire staff make you feel welcomed and provide a unique dining experience every time.

Fantastic food and not overpriced for the quality and quantity! Our server was Lissa! She was so pleasant and helpful! We were there for our friends birthday. We enjoyed the evening! Our only complaint is that the table was too small for all the plates and glassware! But that was a minor inconvenience!
We enjoy the experience of being in an authentic historic restaurant with ethnic foods and interesting atmosphere.
Excellent 1/2 Cuban sandwich & salad along with pitcher of Sangria made for a wonderful lunch.
Our reservation process was great. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Our server was excellent with great tableside manners, salad prep skills, and food presentation. The Columbia has a sophisticated reservation and table assignment program, however, the three hostesses (all young) focused more on the technology rather than using it as a tool to present that first important customer contact. There wasn't a smile or "welcome" from any of them. The Columbia is always busy (which is great) so you need a confident, connected person to make any customer feel they are valued. Even with my one issue, I highly recommend the Columbia in Sarasota.
My wife and I went to Columbia restaurant on St Amond Circle last night it was great. The food was fantastic. I ordered the 20 ounce bone in ribeye and it was cooked med just the way i ordered it. my wife had the grouper jimmy and she said it was the best grouper she had in a long time. Our server Sedat worked very hard to make sure everything was too our liking. He did a great job. we will definitely be going back again before we leave Sarasota. Thank You Phil N.
