We absolutely love this place. It's not really a date night romantic place. However, the food is like having a home cooked meal, and the service is great. I would choose this place to eat over most any other place.

Been here lots of times, but this time just seemed not as good. We were surprised things just tasted bland and the turkey tasted fake.
Unfortunately, the meals were very bland, including the fried chicken. Service was great but it kinda sucks driving there for a family meal and coming away disappointed.

Buffets are pretty iffy right? You got a get there early so the food hasn't been roasting under the heat lamps for an inordinate amount of time or the food isn't being replaced fast enough or my favorite. The food just isn't that good.
Fortunately, Der Dutchman doesn't seem to suffer from any of those things. I will say that the buffet itself didn't blow me away with a extravaganza of delights but what they did have was done extremely well.
The turkey was moist and well cooked . The fried chicken was fantastic. Bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans were all freshly made and cooked perfectly. Even the potato salad which I didn't love wasn't that bad.
The issues I had and especially with this place based on the home cooking aspect of the buffet was seasoning. I get it . You're cooking for many people and the demographic is definitely above 50 so you have to cook based on those factors but still. The potatoes for the potato salad could be salted better and the chicken was mostly without seasoning as well . Even saying that the food was really good and fresh. I also tried the salmon and it was great too. So much good to say.
We also bought treats from the bakery to bring home. The key lime pie and stick buns. Both outstanding.
Upstairs you will find plenty of shopping. Similar to Cracker Barrel but I think better.
Overall, great buffet and super nice staff. Oh if you can sit in the sunroom do it. Pretty quiet back there if that's what you want.

Ordered a personalized birthday cake. Person in the bakery took the order over the phone (after 5 min hold and 2 calls) and repeated it back to me correctly. It was written correctly on the order form because I looked at it when I got to the bakery to pick it up and noticed they put my name in place of the person who I ordered the cake for. Basic attention to detail stuff. I get it mistakes happen. They did correct the mistake but it's obvious when the writing is in cursive and the name is now in block letters different font etc. I asked if I have to pay full price after waiting a long time for the final result and was told YUP in a condescending tone. Ok then y'all earned both stars in this review. YEP!
