Dolce Italia is one of our favorite restaurants in Sarasota! We always look forward to eating there every year. Love the Trenne pasta with sausage. The sauce is spectacular. The restaurant may be tiny but the ambience is mighty!

Matthew was beyond welcoming calling us by name. Great way to start our evening. The Brussel sprout appetizer was uniquely spectacular. For entrees we all got the Trenne two of us with meatballs and two with sausage. Will definitely go back next year.

Extraordinary service and even better food. The owner and wait staff were amazing in accommodating our large group from out of town. The delicious bread and olive oil set the tone for a special evening. We will be back in a few months for another visit.

We have been coming here for years multiple times a year and always enjoy. I think the food has had a slight decline, still good but on par with other Italian places when it used to be superior. The service is always outstanding. Overall would highly recommend.

Never a disappointment. Took the family including a one year old to this restaurant. Friendly staff; service was wonderful. We all had the house specialty, trenne pasta. The sauce was delicious... not marinara... closer to a vodka sauce. The bread was fresh and served warm. For dessert try the decadent chocolate vesuvius with ice cream. Chocolate lovers won't be disappointed.

If I could give this zero stars I would. I called and made a reservation. I was told there’s nothing available in the main dining room. They said, I could have a table the patio. On arrival, the patio was the sidewalk 15 inches from my car.From the time we arrive to the time we departed, there was an empty table in the main dining room.The food was very ordinary. Red sauce was out of a can.

Food was outstanding. We had the three specials for the day. We couldn't decide which one we liked best. I can't wait to go back. Dolce is a must if you live truly authentic Italian food.
Food is fresh, made to order, and absolutely delicious. Food comes out hot. Small place, reservations strongly suggested. We eat there every time we visit the area. I highly recommend it!!

A really great Italian restaurant in Gulf Gate. Dolce Italian is a small, warm neighborhood restaurant with a friendly owner and staff who all make you feel at home. And the food is fabulous. We started with the Napoletan eggplant appetizer, which was simply excellent, I had the Fruitti di mare, which is my go to dish to rate restaurants. it did not disappoint. The shellfish was excellent and the grouper was a perfect local fish to include. My wife had the Penne All' Arrabbiata with crumbled sausage, which also was excellent. Took us far too long to get here - we will return often.

Menu is not overwhelming with more than enough entree, desert and wine options. I was surprised we had never discovered this charming place previously.
