Terrible experience! Waiter does not know the menu and then the manager was a complete train wreck and made us feel like we were wrong when they got our order wrong. Tuna was well done instead of rare. Thai crispy fish was not crispy but was grilled. Manager/owner very Confrontational. I will be shocked if this place lasts six months!

My friend invited me over the weekend to try the new restaurant that just opened in downtown Sarasota called Avli Mess Hall and let me tell what a breath of fresh air this place was! From getting greeted at the door to the appetizer grilled calamari and getting the whole Branzino fish for two I can without a doubt say that everything was carefully thought and beautifully executed. The full bar had an eclectic, vibrant and elegant look and the service was top notch from start to finish! I can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend!

Formerly El Greco, this place has undergone a major overhaul and is now called Avli. The food and service were impeccable and the ambiance is great too. They also have a great selection of wines. Overall this is a wonderful new restaurant to enjoy on Main Street. Make sure to check it out!

August 2019. We arrived at 745pm at El Greco A GREEK RESTAURANT, on Main St for the first time. The food was delicious. Best spanakopita, Greek Salad with Lamb Gyro & octopus appetizer dish. Some suggestions: The octopus was excellent and a larger portion should be offered as an Entree. Only 1 Sauvignon Blanc was offered on the menu. While it was good, it was served warm in cold glasses that we had to put ice in. We didnt make it to dessert but we heard they have a great BAKLAVA that we haven't found yet anywhere in FL.

Starting to remodel the restaurant. So new menu, old Gyro salad was $12 now it's $16. So for lunch resorted to getting a basic gyro $8, not bad. But will no longer be a regular here.
