Ichiban Restaurant Sushi Bar

The yellowtail here is consistently the most fresh and delicious in Sarasota, always recommend getting some. Quality of the nigiri is high across the board. The scallop salad gunkan is quite nice if you want to try something a little different on the all you can eat menu. The clear soup and the tempura options are also fantastic. Never had a bad experience, really nice spot for dinner.

Both my server (K L) and the sushi chef (Patrick) were incredibly kind and helpful. I ordered a mango white claw, but they didn’t have that flavor so my server, K L, was so sweet and brought out every other flavor they had so I could choose. And Patrick was very knowledgeable about all of the fish and answered all of my questions. I will be back the next time I’m in town (:

Absolutely best place to eat in sarasota. HANDS DOWN. Yellowtail nigiri was absolutely amazing! You have to get the clear soup and spicy ponzu sause. Best sushi in sarasota no competition. A must eat spot!!!!

Apparently, their front of house thinks it’s OK to throw food at people. Definitely not the first time I’ve been disrespected at this restaurant. I don’t care how busy you are. It’s your job to provide service.

Ichiban is my best kept sushi secret in Sarasota. Their 4 roll combo is my go to. This was my late father’s favorite restaurant and the owner even let us host a memorial there. Food is amazing!! Try the Volcano roll

Permanently removed from my Grubhub options going forward. The worst food I've eaten in a long time. Bad ginger dressing. Bad dumplings and sauce. Worst fried rice I've ever eaten. I've ordered from them before and it wasn't this bad. I cannot recommend them, ever.

Not a bad restaurant. The sushi was okay—not the best, but definitely not terrible. It’s a really casual spot, so if you’re in a hurry and just want to get in and out, it’s a solid option. They also offer an all-you-can-eat menu for a set price. Its a budget conscious place.
