Jpan Sushi & Grill

I was really looking forward to visiting J'pan. Not very impressed. The sushi was ...good. Ambiance was clean, but not overly warm and comfortable. I ordered tempura veggies and also the spider roll with fried squid. The frying oil for both tasted old. I have to say the staff was welcoming and friendly. The music was not my taste...a bit loud and obnoxious. If you are looking for quick, the whole dinner was over in 40 minutes. Will probably not go back.

We like the food and the eclectic selection. The service this day was very slow. It was Valentine's Day, but it didn't really seem that busy for how slow the service was. But will be back because the food is very good. 

We are looking for a nice sushi place near our hotel in Sarasota found this place and it lived up to its reviews and expectations. Pork buns were great. The brad pork belly bowl was fantastic and my wife's role she said was excellent. I recommend this place and will be back next time we're in town

Ok let me start by saying it's not one star, I just think their average needs pulled down a few notches. The food was ok, sushi could have been fresher, but not bad at all. Great service and a cool little place. The problem is, it's double the price it should be. Again not bad sushi, but Publix could give them a run for quality. And at their price point, this place should be bigger rolls, fresher fish and something you need to come back for. Just a bit disappointing.

The sushi was seriously delicious! We ordered 7 rolls for our table, and everyone loved each of them. Especially recommend the specialty rolls. Best in town! Thank you for a yummy meal.

I really don't know what happened to this place. It used to be excellent. The last 3-4 orders I had hopes that the prior experience was isolated. Well I'm sorry to say, it has been worse every time for the past 8mos to 1yr. From the rice, to the fish, the rolls are sub par; it used to be the best sushi rice and melt in your mouth seafood. Now rice falls apart, fish is mush, and the rest of the ingredients are tasteless and run together. The service is nice and food prompt and correct, but I'm so disappointed.

Very rude staff
Ordered gluten free, they verified it was gluten free, but they completely messed up. Insisted it was gluten free. Promised they checked everything and everything was gluten free. So we thought mistakes happen, we paid for our dinner , talked to them about importance of being careful with food allergies, they seemed to understand…We were just happy I had the machine to check for gluten so I did not even try it, otherwise i would have gotten very sick. We decided to give them another try. Came back a few days later and were met with very arrogant and rude staff. They basically kicked us out. They just said “our sushi has gluten, the hi I get says “wheat”
Were not interested in talking/working with us at all. Will never come back. Either they lied to us the very first time when I explained that my allergy is very severe and they said they checked every single thing and assured us the food was safe to eat, or they lied to us now because they just did not feel like dealing with us. Regardless, this is is serious!!!!! If someone tells you they have allergy, you have to take it seriously, or be honest and mark it on the menu that you are unable to accommodate allergies, so those who have allergies will make informed decisions. Your customers trust you… People with food allergies, Beware!!!!!!

We visit JPan frequently. The food was wonderful, as always. Friday was a very busy night so the noise level was a bit higher and our server was very busy. We had to get up and find her to order for dessert. Otherwise, we had a pleasant experience.

So bummed about our experience tonight. This was our go to sushi restaurant because they were so accommodating to our GF needs. Arrived tonight for dinner to find out their rice is no longer GF. They now use a vinegar that has gluten in it. We unfortunately had to leave because of this. The server offered us sashimi and salad but that wasn't a solution we were open to today. Hopefully they read this and change the recipe back. Beware if you are GF (my daughter is Celiac, thank goodness I asked)

My buddy enjoyed his shrimp tempura dinner. My sushi sashimi combo dinner was pretty decent...could have been a bit more flavorful. Waitress was wonderful. Gr8 location, easy parking.

Every time I go to eat lunch there is so good. The food is great, service staff so professional and nice. Also the food presentation is wonderful..
