Kolucan Mexican Bar and Grill

This was our first visit, and it did not disappoint. From the chips and guacamole to the homemade salsa, to the handcrafted margaritas, everything was delicious. My wife said the salsa was the best she has ever had. The short rib marinated in the homemade mole was exceptional. You can tell they are passionate about putting our authentic Mexican food. We will definitely be back.

Food was excellent. Elevated Mexican. Drinks were very good. Margarita flight was tasty. Service was fantastic, super friendly and very attentive. Will be back!

Ceviche app was unanimously loved by all four diners, so much so one ordered for entree. Scallop entree was AWESOME!

Excellent every dish I've ever gotten there has been fabulous. The weight staff are wonderful. The chefs are friendly and present.

Gracia provided excellent service, the food was great, and the prices were reasonable.

It was a great place to enjoy a meal with family and celebrating birthdays! Food and drinks are fantastic and never disappoints. The service is amazing! Very friendly staff and extremely attentive, highly recommend!

First time at Kolucan and definitely will be back. Our waiter Juan was so helpful he recommended the tamarind margarita which was excellent-my husband had the smoked old fashion made with tequila-he’s a old fashion snob - and not a lover of tequila-needless to say he had two. I ordered the chili rellenos with pica de gallo - best I’ve had. Husband had the chicken enchiladas which were also very good. We will definitely be back. Thank you Jain for your recommendations.

My husband & I ended up here after closing on our new home. we were happy to see the place was not packed , yet had lovely, warm ambiance. I loved the art work as well. We tried quite a few items on the menu, the Guac was perfect! I honestly can't remember everything we ordered, but it all was fresh, tasty & very authentic. My husband is from Leon, Gto, Mexico & bc of this-we know tasty, authentic Mexican food & believe me, this place is it! I can't wait to return & try more amazing dishes.

Stopped into the lounge side tonight at 8:00 —2 full hours before it closed. Apparently they had not been busy and didn’t want to be there anymore. We were met with a ton of attitude, weird looks, the staff GLARING at us—generally just a fully unwelcoming and uncomfortable feeling that I did not appreciate, and have rarely experienced at a restaurant anywhere. I’ll emphasize—they had nearly 2 full hours left to be open. The door was unlocked, the open sign was outside. After the “experience” tonight, will not go back and will unfortunately share a different perspective on the restaurant with others.

Don't let the nitpicker reviews fool you, this is THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN FLORIDA! So much flavor. El Melvin just closed in downtown Sarasota and we were sad about that but not any more. My only constructive critique would be the chips were a little too hard but that can be easily fixed.. 9.5 out of 10!
