We came here because of the good reviews but had very unpleasant experience. We waited 50 minutes for our food, only to be served a meal that was completely tasteless. The claim that this is a French bistro is misleading; the owner should be embarrassed, not a French food.
The coffee was equally disappointing—both the cappuccino and café au lait tasted exactly the same and looked the same. The food was just as bad. The croque madame with salmon was the worst thing I've ever eaten, and it gave me terrible heartburn. Bread was all mushy inside. And salmon had a weird taste. The crepes and omelette were both dry and flavorless. To top it off, the rum baba was also very dry and had an unappealing icing on top, suggesting they need to find a new recipe.
Overall, it was a very poor breakfast/ brunch experience.

L’Ôpera Bakery Bistro is such a lovely place. As soon as I walked in, it smelled amazing with the scent of fresh bread and sweet pastries. I had a croissant and it was so light and buttery—honestly one of the best I’ve ever had.
I also tried the quiche and it was rich, warm, and really delicious. Everything looked beautiful and felt made with care.
The staff were kind and welcoming, and the whole place had a cozy and relaxing feel. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee and a treat or sitting down for a meal, it’s definitely worth visiting. I can’t wait to go back.

Food was fantastic. We ordered the apple tart, cappuccinos, salmon crepe with French potatoes and French toast and all of it was fabulous. I highly recommend.

Amazing experience, this place is truly one of a kind , our server was very nice and helped us with everything we needed , delicious authentic French cuisine ..
Authentic high quality French cuisine. Very clean and great service.
these croissants are SO GOOD!!! genuinely cannot think of a croissant as good as the ones I had here, they are SO rich and flavorful and the layers are amazing 🤤 love the almond one, if you want something less sweet go with the raspberry! the prices are super reasonable too
Fairly good experience with fantastic lattes and quiche. Once the over toasted croissant sandwich was resolved, it too was delightful. Very polite and considerate owner.
I rarely eat baked goods but when I do or when company comes this is the only place to go in Sarasota for the best croissants, pastries, bread, coffee's and service. If you don't live close to Gulfgate it is worth a drive. These french gentlemen are so friendly and service oriented. The Almond Croissant is my favorite.
