We love Haitian food. We had an appetizer while waiting for our order to come. Waited about 30 min and the lady behind the counter said our food had been ready. So we headed to the hotel a few minutes away opened it up and a spoiled smell was very strong. There was a pasta salad. Yuck. Grio is my favorite food. This was burnt and so hard and dry I couldn’t even squeeze it. The rice ugh!!!
For this to be the only Haitian for miles… you need to do better. Wish I could get a refund
I never leave bad reviews. But this is not good. The plantain are burnt and hard as a roch

I’ve been to a Haitian restaurant, but this restaurant is one of the best. You don’t have to wait too long and you get a lot of food for your money. I drove two hours every time I go there and it worth it.

Go find out and take me later.

I was visiting family, got hungry and stopped by this Haitian restaurant and was so happy I did. I ordered the pate kode. It was so flavorful and very fulfilling. It had chicken, a whole eggs, piklez, peppers, onions and other creole seasonings. Next time I will definitely try the legume.

I ordered white rice and I like bean sauce. Even they didn’t have bean sauce I would’ve liked white rice. They sent me some stale rice. It’s so dry and the oxtail could’ve been better!

Great authentic food, super nice staff. Waited for us even after closing time. One of the better meals I’ve had in the area.

Foods was nasty, I ordered a Lalo with white rice they put griot in the Lalo, beef 🥩 meat naturally taste good but this tassot boeuf tasted like they wash the meat to much , I don’t know where you guys from but try to do better , cooking Haitian foods does not take much , you just need to seasoned your meats properly hmmmm and charged me 80.65 dollars for the nasty foods

Lamar Lakay is absolutely amazing. Fast service, clean place and excellent environment. Outstanding customer service. They serve with a smile and are very people friendly. The food is amazing, great portion for your money, worth every penny. My husband and daughters eat there all the time. They make the best Legumes, Lalo and Akra in town. I recommend them truly. Go order your food there and thank me later.

Vegetarian options: You can request legumes or Lalo without meat. They have other options as well.

Kid-friendliness: Attentive to children, respectful and they take time to talk to children.

It was a take out place. They had tables. They couldn’t understand English so it was difficult to order and what I wanted they had no cabbage. So I got rice and beans. Put in a to go box bag and all. We were sitting at a table with our Kamala shirts on. They didn’t know who she was. The pork was beyond dry so was the goat and well the rice and beans too. I’m not a meat eater but my friends had it. I had high hopes. The place smelled bad too. I really want to support them at this time. But I tried. I’m only being honest. They need at least one person that can translate !!! I point to the menus but can’t ask questions.

I found this place on google. The Owner was nice at he bigging in helping me getting to the place. I do not usually post reviews. I always call to let people know if the food is good or if they need to adjust the kitchen. Based on the response I got from the owner I decide to give this restaurant 1 star. The food was not good, the rice was not the good quality. I do not know what type of rice they use but it was different. It could have been better. We, Haitians, we cook better than that. I hope he highers a better cook. I called the owner to tell him but he was mad and defensive instead of being appreciative. I hope he learns how to accept criticism good or bad. I did not call to put him down but to tell him the food could have been simply better.

Only reason I’m giving them two starts is because of there lack of proper communication I was told two different prices over the phone also was up charged by $3-$5 … definitely needs a proper menu with a concrete cost rather than up charging
