My new favorite go to place! We stopped here last night because we were craving burgers, but got so much more than that! We honestly wanted to try everything on the menu in one night😂. We got the smash burgers, muffuletta, collard greens, chicken gumbo, and our daughter got the kids chicken fingers and fries. Seriously even her meal was delicious! But one bite of the muffuletta, our mouths were so satisfied, what a flavorful sandwich! Then the smash burger, just wow, we literally couldn’t stop shoving our faces with everything. It was just all so amazing! I will also be making my husband stop here after I give birth so I can have this delicious food instead of hospital food! 👏🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My friend had been waiting to bring me to Lucky 8– I’m from the New Orleans area and have been wanting a real Cajun or creole restaurant in Sarasota for years. They didn’t tell me it was NOLA food and I didn’t look it up for once before we met up at this spot— I was pleasantly surprised from the moment I walked in the door!
The owners are kind and knowledgeable of everything on that menu. The decor gives such a unique, soulful but elevated vibe and the playlist is so good I downloaded it from their website! 🔥
The food was delicious. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo which was the perfect temperature and seasoned well. The fires were insane and the beet salad was really good too. We actually had a lot and every bite I ate was fire!
I wish they had brunch!! Please start serving brunch!!

Not a review person at all, but this deserves a review! Service was above and beyond! Super cute, eclectic vibe inside! But overall the food was excellent! My husband is a burger connoisseur and could not get over how good the Smashburger was! Have not found someone in Sarasota to do it-quite right…. Until now! The Boudin balls, and the appetizer that has the crispy pork with the greens salad on top was incredible! Will definitely be adding this into our rotation!

We sat outside on the sidewalk. Luckily it was between lunch and dinner, otherwise the sidewalk area is pretty small for a crowd. The wait staff was helpful and able to answer all our questions. The appetizer, collard artichoke dip, was delicious and enough for 4 people. The shrimp and grits were very good with the grits being special with the addition of roasted poblano peppers. However the Gumbo bowl was pretty salty and I didn't see any okra in it. I thought gumbo always had okra. We asked for some bread to go with the Gumbo which they brought out without an additional charge. I wouldn't order the Gumbo again.

Awesome food, great environment and fabulous server, Austin. We sat outside with our dog on a quiet Monday and it was perfect. The fried chicken sandwich, gumbo and smash burger were delicious. Next time we’re back we’ll try the pecan pie!

I ordered the Louisiana Shrimp & Grits, and my husband got the Muffuletta Sandwich — both were absolutely AMAZING. The grits were some of the best I’ve ever had (and I’m not even a grits person!).
We couldn’t resist dessert and went all in with the bread pudding — OMG 🤯 it was so good I’m already planning our next trip back just for that!
If you haven’t tried Lucky 8 yet, I HIGHLY recommend it! You’ll thank me later 😋✨
