Just finished lunch at Mattison's City Grille. Nice downtown location, extremely good food, and we enjoyed being outside in the fresh air. It was a hot day, but the fans made it very comfortable. The real reason for this review though is because our waiter, Alex, was fantastic. He was very friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. He went far above and beyond all expectations. Thank you, Alex, for making our lunch a great experience!

This is my favorite restaurant... I've tried the baby back ribs, spicy dragon roll, brick oven pizza, the curry bowl (i added shrimp) and the chicken dish. Awesome flavors. My fiancee likes the grouper picatta and caesar salad with salmon. Servers are always professional and knowledgeable, and tammy the hostess is friendly and helpful too. A great experience overall from when you walk in to when you leave. Go on a Wednesday night, the performer is one you won't want to miss!!

The food was excellent, you can tell the ingredients are fresh!! Service was outstanding--the team really works together. Loved being able to enjoy a meal outside in downtown Sarasota! Will be back for live music and happy hour! highly recommend! 10/10!!

We came to Mattisons for Sunday brunch. Our son has a shellfish allergy, we informed our server about the allergy. The GM came to our table and went over all the items our son could eat. So nice to have the manager come out and reassure us what items were safe for our son to eat. Will definitely come back. Our son was so happy he could have French fries.

Have not been to Mattisons downtown in a few years. Actually looked kind of empty compared to previous years. Had seafood gumbo very weak. They need to actually put something besides rice on the plate. Bathrooms were unattended and not to clean Overall place is nowhere what it use to be. Needs some updating and new management before it's too late. Love Mattisons 41. Totally different level.

Went here with my girlfriend while we were in the Sarasota area. We really liked the atmosphere and service was good. Her salad and fries were good. I thought my gumbo was good, but I ended up getting sick later on that night which I attribute to this restaurant. That being said we will not be coming back for food.

A bratty hostess, a waiter that couldn’t be found when trying to pay, overpriced. And judging by the other reviews, seems that they need to get act together.

We decided to eat dinner here as our other restaurant had a 2-hour wait. At the end of the dinner we should've waited, we went on a Sunday around 6:00. The hostess was nice she had to clean a table for us ( mind you, they weren't that busy). Then our waitress comes never gave us her name , water came out first I ordered a specialty drink ( orange something) it was in a martini glass, but no ice, was only a little cold and no sugar or salt on rim. Upon drinking, it was VERY VERY STRONG, I had my spouse try, and they agreed. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, lamb chops, Asian and Buffalo wings. The fries taste as if they sat out all day, and they just heated it up in microwave, my lamb chops were super small. I asked for medium well and got well done. The Potatoes tasted as if they were packaged or boxed, and they put a few squares, Potatoes and mashed with it to give the homemade feel. My asparagus was not fresh tasted frozen. Then check comes 174 dollars, for what? I am still trying to figure it out because it was very overpriced for nasty food. Now I will say the Asian wings were the best thing we had ordered. The Buffalo seemed as if it was fried in red hot ( hot sauce)and then tossed in it. Will not be returning.

Not because the food wasn’t great, it was, apart from the Greek salad not having the feta cheese and Kalamata olives on it, a bit obvious but rectified, also the lamb cutlets were served still joined together and not cooked correctly due to this. My friends raved over the grouper piccata and the salmon. However the downside of the evening, after I had asked to pay the bill discreetly for the table, was being approached by the waitress and informed that I had not left the required tip in her opinion. I explained I had been distracted when talking to the bar staff, but I thought I had calculated it correctly, so I gave her another $10 at the table, she then said that it was still not 22.5% so I gave her another $10 making her total tip in excess of $50. Absolutely appalling behaviour, her service was OK but not exceptional in any stretch of the imagination, never checking to see if the party required more drinks, only topping the water up once when one of the party requested. Perhaps she thought because they were drinking we all were, well sorry, I was on water so completely aware of what was going on. I asked to see a manager and a pleasant young man tried to rectify but by that time the evening had been completely ruined. If the staff rely so heavily on their tips that they feel compelled to go ask for them, shame on you for not paying them a decent salary. If one of my team ever asked a client for a tip they would be shown the door immediately. Never again
