Typically it's consistently good here. The sautéed calamari was awful, gummy and fishy. When told server she said well sautéed calamari isn't for everyone.....well actually we love sautéed calamari and this just wasn't good! Also the pizza with shrimp and spinach had really no flavor, and steak was just ok.

I have been going here for 28 years. It is consistently great. The ingredients and the preparation are consistent and in a town with sooooo Italian restaurants, I've never gone wrong here.

Early dinner reservations, the entire service we were rushed so they could get the table for a second service. Immediately came to table for the order, read the specials and then took order. dinner arrived in minutes and starting clearing table before done eating and hovered the table until we left. Not a pleasant experience

Absolute fabulous experience. We all enjoyed our meals. My husband and brother had squid ink pasta and shrimp. they cleaned their plates. I enjoyed a linguini with clams in a white sauce. One of the best I ever had. My only complaint which is not the restaurant's fault is the noise level. People just have to be loud and forget they are not in a private dining room. But all in all we will certainly return

Excellent food, good service. The pappardelle Bolognese was particularly good and al dente. The linguini frutti de mare was delicious, although the linguini was a bit overdone and soft. Overall, and excellent meal!

We're out-of-towners who've dined at Mediterraneo Ristorante Italiano many times. Each time has been wonderful. Classy but casual. Mert took such great care of us throughout. He's a top-notch server, someone to request. We started with ice cold martinis (bleu cheese olives, of course) and a marvelous bresaola appetizer. Artwork on a plate. The complimentary bread plate is warm. Yum. For entrees, we were thrilled with the linguine with clams, mussels, shrimp, cherry tomatoes special, along with the perfect Tuscan rose. Great pairing. Mediterraneo is one of our all-time faves and always our Sarasota kickoff.

I've been to Mediterraneo many times since I've moved here, 15 years ago, to Sarasota Florida. I could've sworn that I'd written several reviews on this establishment in the past, yet none exist here on Tripadvisor. Must've been on "Yelp" or another platform. Anyway, Mediterraneo is one of the finest Italian restaurants in my area that also has great service with a polite staff and generous portions, and, unfortunately, that seems to be dwindling in these parts! There are several Italian restaurants in my general vicinity that have equally delicious meals, but the prices as of late have gone through the roof and the service is not what it used to be. Fortunately, Mediterraneo still manages to keep affordability consistent in these trying times without cutting on quality or quantity. Tonight, I had the black linguine ( made with squid ink), in a spicy red sauce with shrimp and a glass of merlot. It was FANTASTIC! I also ordered 2 meals "to go" that consisted of rigatoni with sausage and broccoli rabe. All 3 meals with the wine and tip came to just under $100.00! This will be my "Go-to" restaurant from now on when it comes to Italian cuisine! GREAT JOB, Guys! And, as always, thanks for the great dining experience! Danny A.

The noise level is a bit high especially later in the evening. But the menu selection is very nice and the food is outstanding. We always enjoy the experience of dining at Mediterraneo and love bringing out of town guests. First class restaurant!

The ambience was lovely-pleasing to the eye and inviting. We were seated on time for our reservation slot. We were just not thrilled with our seating. We sat along the wall, and kind of crammed in. If the waiter or a guest had to get up, their butt was in your face. It was loud and hard to have a conversation. We should have asked for a different table but it was our first time so live and learn. We did appreciate the complementary bread basket and bruschetta which were tasty. We ordered the eggplant rollatini as an appetizer. It had a nice flavor but too salty. We both ordered the involtino di pollo. It was okay-not a fan of the undercooked bacon. We also ordered a side of penne in marinara to share which tasted good and made me regret not ordering a pasta dish. I think we will give it another try and order pasta-but ask to sit at a free standing table for sure.

As usual this was a wonderful evening with great friends to celebrate my 65th birthday. Service was excellent as so as we entered the door. Food was absolutely amazing and the staff was informative and very knowledgeable.

What a nice start to our evening. The staff is great: very attentive, yet never obtrusive. We always seem to have a terrific waiter here. Food is great: consistent quality and flavor whether you order a special or standby. It's also a great location and lovely atmosphere. Well done! We'll be back!
