Great experience. Fabulous setting and wonderful food. Our server, Tamara, was exceptional. On our next visit to Sarasota, Michael's goes to the top of the list. We cant wait to return.

We had a wonderful experience at Michael's on East last night. Enjoyed several appetizers and everyone's entrees were delicious. Our daughter really enjoyed the New Orleans 3 course pre-fix selecting a very good gumbo and best short ribs. Highly recommend.

Another FABULOUS meal at Michael's on East. Lobster Pot Friday and the Surf and Surf were outstanding. Our waiter, Freddy, took great care of us. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Last night we enjoyed the delicious Lobster Pot Friday dinner. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the sides were very tasty. Kelly was our server, she was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly.

Always enjoy eating at Michael's on East. I have never had a dish that I didn't like.!. Will always be one of my favorite places to eat.

Visited for my birthday on a Friday night. One of us ordered the New Orleans special menu - the oysters were very nicely done (3 oysters - all done different ways), shrimp and grits and cheesecake. The shrimp and grits was very good - but presentation could have been better; nothing "wow" about it - just good shrimp and grits. I ordered the pompano - and was disappointed. It was okay - just okay. Nothing wrong with it - but nothing that made me say "wow, that was so good". The wine and cocktails we had were great. It was a good meal - but not memorable.

Everything was incredible from the minute we walked in the door. The ambiance, the service, the cocktails and food were amazing. Beautiful Experience! Highly recommend Michael's on East for a memorable experience.

Michael's is one of our fav Sarasota restaurants. We especially enjoy their three course special menu's ...but the New Orleans trout entree choice lacked salt and flavor and the special “bourbon” sauce for the fish had a funky taste and was like a thick gravy. Was also disappointed in the shaved veges. No flavor. Chocolate dessert option also lacked a chocolate flavor. But we will give them another try and look forward to seeing the interior renovations planned for September.

The chef is outstanding, we're always delighted with his food. Our server, Lauren Mattila is wonderful, caring , attentive, knowledgable and just a pleasure to be around. You are lucky to have her.

We try to visit Michael's on East once a month for their Epicurean dinner. August's' 3 course meal was a visit to New Orleans. Husband and I chose to start with the baked oysters, 3 ways: Bienville, Kathryn, and Ohan. All 3 were favorites! For entrees, I chose the Speckled Trout Tchoupitoulas! This trout came with vegetable ribbons and popcorn rice with an Orleans Almondine Meunière. Yum. Husband had the Bourbon Street Short Rib. It came over a black-eyed pea stew with carmelized pearl onions, heirloom cherry tomatoes, broccolini and Bienville au jus. So good! As usual, Michael's on East's desserts are fabulous! We got one of each of this menu's offerings: the double chocolate bourbon bread pudding with vanilla bean anglaise and brown sugar and bourbon ice cream ( right up Husband's alley) and the Royal Street pecan praline cheesecake with whipped cream ( he only got one taste)! We chose to go with the wine pairings for this menu. It's nice to have the wine, a red and/or a white, chosen for you for the menu of the month! We love everything about Michael's- the piano bar, the service and most especially the consistently awesome food! We are so looking forward to September's 3 course, prix fixe menu!!

Michael's on East is the best restaurant in Sarasota for outstanding food and professional service. We dine here several times a year and each event is notable. Top in its class for professional wait staff. These are people who know how to treat customers. Friendly but not intrusive. Perfectly knowledgeable about the food and wine. The food is excellent. We typically have the Epicurean menu which changes monthly and offers cuisine from around the world. The chef must be extraordinary to design such creative menus and execute them time and again. We had our favorite table and could hear the piano but was not over bearing.

Service was not good at all. Our appetizers came before our cocktails. Our main courses were late. Manager came over to apologize, did not offer a drink or anything while we waited. This was a long wait, waitress was never stopped by table, walked by us several times with empty drinks, saw that our food had not been delivered after waiting 45 min. Good finally comes out, some plates are so hot we could not touch them, you know what that means, they sat in the window. Ribeye was MW when ordered Medium Rare. They took steak back, brought it back out, still not med rare, they comped the steak. Brought the dessert menu, we decided to pass. After we told the waitress they sounded delicious, but we would pass, she collects the menus and says, we were going to treat you to dessert, but okay and walked away. If we would have known they were going to buy dessert, we would have got one or two just to share and taste, she should have said that when she gave us the menu. My son even said, well if we would have known, but she just walked away and brought us the check. $500 dinner for 4 people, there are better out there.
