Fabulous local cafe in downtown Sarasota located on Main St. near Lemon Ave! I started coming here around 10 years ago when Starbucks closed for renovations so this was my morning go to place on my bus layover and I’ve been a patron ever since. Although it’s changed hands a couple of times they’ve always had a very friendly staff and wonderful daily made pastry’s and treats…the coffee is great as well! If you’re downtown I highly suggest trying them out!

Today is Farmers market Sat. 8/17. Stopped in for a 'vegan shake' I had a few weeks ago. It's vegan cherry ice cream, the staff happily made it into a shake for me last time. Today I was told, 'we don't do that'. I told the gal the last time it was made in their blender (same one they use for their *smoothies*on the menu!) She flatly said, "It may have been less busy at the time. Cone or a cup?" I said no thanks anyway. She voided the order. Now, common sense: how much time would it have taken for a latte/Frappuccino, or a *smoothie*- same blender? Probably more time than a scoop of ice cream + oat milk!! I know *thinking along the lines of customer service* is not something that's difficult, but apparently this staff member (not new) was making items that could be made 'only during busy times'?? Insulting, ridiculous reason for denying an item I had previously in the Cafe. Yes, it was busy, no less so than last time I was in there- busy Farmers market customers! That was my last time in there, and a nearby business that employs more than 10 people have said the same as far as similar encounters. So I am not alone. No need to respond and ask 'to make it right'. You can't fix lack of common sense, and deliberately refusing the simple drink.

Subpar food, we had the Ruben sandwich and breakfast bowl (but was given a breakfast burrito and no offer to make it a bowl). The bacon was prepackaged cooked bacon. The Ruben sandwich comes with no sauerkraut and with a bag of chips. Really disappointed with the dining experience. We liked the espresso muffin and coffee.

I've had food and coffee here before and it was great but today was the opposite. The people working were really sweet but they were out of croissants, the bagels were frozen, and the mocha latte doesn't taste like coffee at all. They didn't refund my card but did a cash refund for the sandwich so I guess I paid $10 for a cup of chocolate syrup. Updated to 3 stars, I appreciate the reply.
