Not recommended for serious adult learners.
As an adult student who enrolled in this school with full-time work and professional goals, I found the environment and structure of this school to be deeply disappointing and misaligned with what was promised during enrollment.
Disclaimer: No names are mentioned in this review. This is not a personal attack, but a reflection of my overall experience.
Key issues I experienced:
- Shared Classrooms with High School Students
Many classes are shared with high school students from the attached Polytech program. While this may work for some, it created a disruptive environment for those of us paying out-of-pocket and attending for career advancement. The learning space often felt more like a high school than a professional training program.
- Lack of Professionalism and Respect
Adult students were treated with the same disciplinary tone as younger students, rather than being spoken to as peers. Asking questions was often met with frustration or impatience. Much of the instruction felt hands-off, students were expected to teach themselves, with minimal direct guidance.
- False Advertising of Program Content
When I applied, the school promoted specific certifications and opportunities as part of the program. After financial aid had been processed and it was too late to withdraw without penalty, I was informed that those opportunities were not actually available. This felt misleading and left me with limited options besides continuing.
- Internship Placement Issues
Internship placements were initiated very early, within the first few weeks of the program, before I had any foundational knowledge. The first opportunity understandably fell through due to lack of experience. I secured a second internship, but the company was in the middle of a transition and informed me they weren’t able to provide proper support for interns at that time. They respectfully let me go, encouraged me to return in the future, and kept the door open. Despite this, I was reprimanded in front of peers for circumstances beyond my control.
I was scolded, loudly and publicly, for “blowing” both internships. I was asked, in front of my peers, “What’s WRONG with you? What do you say to make people HATE you so much?” I stood there stunned, in tears, and humiliated. This interaction was discouraging, unprofessional, and contributed to my decision to leave.
I share this experience not out of bitterness, but out of concern for future adult students who may find themselves in similar situations. I was committed, punctual, and motivated, but the environment did not support that effort in a meaningful way.
If you're considering this school as an adult learner, I recommend doing thorough research and asking very specific questions about what is actually included in the program, how instruction is handled, and whether the environment supports mature learners.
Very clean location. Bistro on campus is 5 stars
By far the best experience signing up! Bob Koch and the rest of the staff including Janette Frank were the best. Wish I could credit the lady that help notarize my documents as well. They made everything go smoothly and helped me every step of the way all while having uplifting and great personalities. I am so happy to be attending Sun coast Technical College! 10/10 experience
My appointment with Sally -Student resources was really a positive experience.
I was impressed with how organized Sally was ! She really listens And thoughtfully assesses your needs.
For options That could meet my needs-
Sally Not only told me but showed me -
and printed or gave what I would need to take home to review.: much resource material and so much appreciated .
She also introduced me to a couple other counselors that handle different departments. I felt my time there was the best time spent with any of the interviews. I’ve taken thus far with
Other campuses.
Unfortunately, the two programs that interest me, are already filled, 🤔
My advice , don’t wait. Make sure you meet Sally or some of the other counselors and find out what you’ll need to prepare-because they fill up fast.!!
Good to know🌟
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Suncoast University, particularly with the LPN program counselor. I reached out for guidance regarding taking the TEAS test online, and instead of offering support or flexibility, the counselor was rude and dismissive. For a technical school that claims to support students and help them build careers—especially those facing financial hardships—the lack of understanding and empathy was really discouraging. It’s frustrating to expect support and instead be met with attitude. What made it worse was that the way I was treated made me feel like my race may have played a role, which is unacceptable but as I read the reviews for this school It’s clearly a problem. I expected better from a school that promotes itself as being career-focused and inclusive.
Just went on school field trip veary cool place loved the automotive area and cafeteria is beautiful
Great educational opportunity
Trying to call this establishment for information on the GED program, only to hear someone pick up the phone and hang it back up several times.
Theresa James in student services is absolutely amazing! Theresa spent hours getting me registered, ironing out kinks that no one else knew how to handle. Super helpful! If it wasn’t for her, none and I mean none of my stuff would have gotten done.
Adam Allain in bookkeeping is exceptional at his job!!! Always available and happy to assist with my many needs.
So let me get this rite to get into the school to learn electrical work. You already have to be employed by an electrical company. If that was the case why would we need the class. They won't hire you to be an electrician if you don't have experience this is unbelievable.

Look good,great school for good!!
What a terrible school for children with special needs. My son was in dual enrollment in the DVT program. He began at the start of the school year, August 2023. I was in contact with his teacher, Ed Fagan through email and Suzanne McLauchlin- ESE liason through email and phone throughout the 1st quarter. On December 5, 2023, we met over zoom with his teacher, Ed Fagan, Suzanne McLauchlin- Ese Liason, Darby Larkin-Assistive Director and David Culver (He was new to the school. I am not sure of his title) on regarding concerns about his IEP (Individual Education Plan) being met and why the fundamentals of the program were not taught before beginning actual projects, they smirked at us and showed absolutely no concern or interest in even getting a game plan to help my son succeed. They even actually blamed my son. I’m in such shock that people, especially educators can be so cruel. I wish I would have contacted the teacher before having my son apply there to make sure this was a good fit. My advice for anyone and especially those who have or know someone with an IEP is to check and make sure the class and educator will be a good fit.
Excellent educational center, the attention is wonderful ?
The Cosmentology program is a 0/10 there so unorganized for one and it so drama fill the adult class teacher is horrible and is literally a child!!! In general I will say do not come here at all for Cosmentology you be stress and mentally drain go to mtc or any other school then here . Psa the office people are rude and all they want is money
Was here less than a year ago, for LPN program and the teachers are the absolute worst. Lazy people that just leave the class for “self study” in reality they don’t want to teach and always come late after lunch. Horrible LPN program
