What a beautiful hotel. The rooms have more than enough space and the bathrooms are top-notch. The restaurant attached serves fresh food which was a nice addition. The gym has everything including two Peloton bikes. The lobby is decorated beautifully and gives a vibe of stepping into another era. This is a true gem for the Marriott family of brands.

The space is cute, the room was good except for my slightly lumpy bed. The view from the balcony was nice to wake up to. The folks at the front desk are nice. Over all everything was chill.

There's not enough parking and that's a huge concern after a long day. Forced to valet, and that's too expensive. The wink wink restaurant was absolutely amazing. The staff was wonderful. I'd stay again if the valet was included.Food & drinks: Top tier food ? and drinks ?

Marina at the front desk is a perfect example of the outstanding staff at this location. You are centrally located to lots of venues in the heart of Sarasota. Always a stop on our travels up and down the west coast, from Crystal River to Naples.

Chelsea and her staff are always willing to go above and beyond! We have always been treated well every time we have gone over the last few years. If I could give a higher rating I would!

Started our Anniversary night there and had a fantastic time. Ethan and Lulu crushed it. Both were professional and knowledgeable. Huge shout-out to Joe for the bourbon/whiskey tutorial!! Good luck in the mountains!!!

My 87th stay at a Marriott property this year was a poor experience. This was my first time visiting this property, and I booked suite 508. Nobody wants to sleep in a warm room, much less hot. When I checked into the room, it was 80 degrees inside. Air intake vents are inches away from the only vent that blows cool air. The bedroom does not have a vent in it, and there's no fan or cooling mechanism. The bathroom has no vent that blows cool air in it, so the entire area that you shower and sleep in is hot. On top of the hot room, the bed is not what you would expect from a Tribute Portfolio property. Pillows, linens, and the mattress were not comfortable. Would not recommend and will not be staying here again when visiting the Sarasota or Bradenton area.

We came here for the first leg of our 15 year anniversary (exploring Florida) and absolutely fell in love with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful (shout-out to Britney and Kendra at the front desk) - and we got breakfast vouchers included; the breakfast being proper restaurant-style "order from the menu" instead of the typical "bagels and yogurt".The pool area has a hot tub, cold plunge, pool table, and a bar where you can order drinks AND food, as well as a pingpong table and cabanas if you want to stay out of the sun.My only gripe was that we got a pet-friendly room, and even though it was meticulous, the stray pet hair would still find it's way onto my clothes. To note; there is no nearby parking, and is Valet-only, at an additional $30/day, but everything around is a short walk if you'd rather park nearby and walk (or e-scoot) around. We went with the Valet and they were prompt - with a cellphone texting system to notify them to bring the car around. We never waited longer than 5 minutes to get the car (and to be honest, we'd text them 5 minutes in advance as we were getting ready to head out and our car would be waiting for us).Overall, amazing place, we extended our stay an extra day and will definitely return in the future.Rooms: Rooms were cozy with amazing ACWalkability: Everything is about a 5-10 minute walk, but there are e-scooters by the entrance.Food & drinks: Food and drinks were great at the wink wink lounge and at the pool bar.

Love this hotel! These location is great, just about 5 blocks from the main street. The staff is awesome, and the facilities are great. Take nice pool and modern rooms, restaurant, and bar. This is my go to in Sarasota.

Wow. What a great hotel and experience. The Modern is a hip sexy boutique hotel in an up-and-coming part of Sarasota that is close to everything but also feels like its own special oasis. You can use the hotel as a launching off point for all that Sarasota has to offer or better yet never leave the grounds to have an amazing relaxing get away. The hotel exudes a cool vibe – think Miami without the over-the-top pretentiousness. Its apparent as soon as you walk through the doors to the funky stylish decorating that you are not in another cookie cutter bland hotel chain. This place is cool and beautiful but what makes this hotel so special and unique is the amazing service. Lost quality service seems to be a lasting outcome of the pandemic. The Modern Hotel is the remedy for that.Top notch service all began as we entered the front door and met Kendra and Britney at the front desk. I could write an entire review just about these two and how the kindness and attentiveness of hotel staff can completely turbo charge your positive feelings about your stay.As a last-minute decision my wife and I decided to have a quick staycation to get away from the kids. Checking in on the Bonvoy app I noted that it was our anniversary. Arriving at the hotel I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles from Kendra and Britney. I mentioned again that it was my anniversary trip and they said yes, we see that on the reservation and you have been upgraded and you will love this special room. They were almost as happy about upgrading us as we were getting a better room. And oh what a better room it was. The hotel has several top floor balcony suites with bathtubs right on the balcony. This has to be one of my favorite Marriot brand rooms I have ever stayed in. My new friends Kendra and Britney didn’t stop there, they provided us with complimentary drinks and even brought a fruit platter to our room. I travel a bit for work, have Gold status, and like anyone enjoy a nice word about the hotel appreciating you, but I have never felt so well taken care of.Kendra and Britney were great, but our interactions with all the staff showed this was not a fluke or an isolated thing. Raphel a manger at the hotel is doing something very right, it is clear the hotel cares about its customers and that providing exceptional service is in the DNA of the hotel’s staff. As mentioned, our room was amazing, but so was the funky restaurant/bar, and pool with cold plunge and hot tub. We were impressed with every aspect of the hotel. What I also found impressive was that every other guest we talked to had a similar story about amazing service and having an exceptional stay. It’s not often that your accommodations can be the star of your vacation, but the Modern was a star and more as it transformed a quick last minute anniversary trip into one of the most memorable anniversaries we’ve had. Now, whenever friends, family or colleagues come to Sarasota to visit without question I know where we will send them to stay.

2.5 out of 5 stars, especially for a 4 star hotel. I called ahead of time to tell them it was my birthday weekend and our anniversary weekend (and I am Marriott Gold/almost Platinum member), and the manager said, no worries we'll make sure we take great care of you. I am fiercely loyal to Marriott when I work travel. Well, I arrived at 1pm with my dog and said, can I check in early (it was a Friday in the summer in Sarasota, the dead season for South FL). The woman said, your room isn't ready, but we can call you when it is. I said, any ideas when? No idea. Right. The one rare time I try to check in early somewhere...They do allow dogs for a $100+ tax fee per stay, so we did bring our rescue, which is why I wanted to check in early. Anyway, we went to a local dog friendly establishment to try to sit in the shade as it was 95 degrees. We didn't end up getting a call until 4pm to say the room was ready. That's normal check in time, I should hope so. I said to the staff when we arrives, I'm a little bummed about this 4pm check in. My fiance didn't want to make a big deal of it, so I simply said I was a bit disappointed, and as a 'we're sorry', they did give us a cheap bottle of sparkling bubbles and told us they 'upgraded us'. They did not. I booked a room with a balcony, and that's what we got (don't lie to me).Alaos, I used my Marriott points and paid $30, but on top of $30/valet night, random additional resort fees, (and the dog), I ended up paying $150/night. The room isn't very large at all. The balcony is decent. The pool water was 100 degrees.I also mentioned to multiple people at the property that my two night stay was both under my name and my fiance's (two different last names). Well, of course, when we arrived back on Saturday after 11am and a quick stroll in the am, they cancelled my room key and I spent an hour trying to explain to them that I already spoke to multiple people about keeping the same room.Lastly, when I asked for towels the next day, we also waited a good 45 min to get them.Overall, understaffed and staff did not communicate with one another. At least the valet guys were super nice, as was the outdoor bar staff by the pool.

Really great place. Be aware that they require you to do valet parking even though the parking lot is literally right behind the building. Maybe just employ someone to watch the lot and let us park our own cars?Everything else was amazing. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very nice. Pool is small, but our 13 year old still enjoyed it. There's a full bar beside the pool and you can also order food. They have ping pong out there as well. The restaurant is very unique and the food was excellent. There is a workout center on the 5th floor that has a treadmill, 2 Peletons, and an elliptical, all in excellent condition. Good assortment of free weights, as well as yoga mats, medicine balls, and exercise balls. We will definitely be back!
