My brother and I have been in town for ten days and have eaten here twice in that time. The second meal was for my birthday because I enjoyed the atmosphere and high quality and fresh sushi. I can’t speak more highly of this restaurant and have been eating sushi for more than 40 years❤️❤️❤️
The food visually looks very presentable. But the flavor just wasn’t there. The food was still good and I would’ve given 4 stars, but the prices are wayyyyy too high for food that was just missing that flavor. It’s downtown so be careful with the street parking.
Got the Atomic, Godzilla, & Crunchy tuna rolls. Utamaro staff is very accommodating bc we don't like cream cheese in our rolls. All good rolls n our fav remains the godzilla roll, no cream cheese, sub cucumber. Super light tempura fried roll n topped w tuna. It keeps us coming back to try others but wins everytime as our fav.

I recently dined at Utamaro in Sarasota, Florida, and it was an exceptional experience! The sushi was incredibly fresh, with each piece beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The friendly and attentive staff made the meal even more enjoyable. If you’re in Sarasota and love sushi, Utamaro is a must-visit!

This is the best sushi in downtown Sarasota! I come here with a friend occasionally but by myself more often for a quick lunch at least once a month. The Triple tail, Manhattan, and Utamaro rolls are our absolute favorites!

As locals we’ve frequented this place many times. My husband has had plenty of sushi in Japan and cannot get enough of the unbelievable sushi here. Says it’s unlike any sushi he’s ever had. For those who don’t like sushi, they have appetizers and teriyaki. All just as mind blowing. The staff great you as you walk in and the people making the sushi greet you as you walk by. You can seat yourself in front of them and watch the magic happen. Romantic, dimly lit and chill atmosphere. Small seating, so make reservations. Their house sake is so good too!! This is where our paychecks go. No regrets. You won’t have any either!
