Went here for a quick date night while on vacation and can honestly say some of the best service we’ve ever had! Our server, Nicholas, was incredibly sweet and helpful and even went beyond service. We talked for a good while about baking and cooking and just random things. The owner, Brian, also came out and made sure everyone was enjoying their food and their night. We cracked jokes and had a really good time. The environment was cozy and we were able to enjoy the sight of turtles and take pictures of the preserve behind the restaurant. I got a really yummy steak with potatoes and 2 amazing desserts, crème brûlée and plantain Alvarez. It’s a shame we live so far because this would be our go to spot! Thank you Brian and Nicholas for making this a very nice date night for us. We needed a good night and you guys made that very easy and welcoming for us :)

Finally got to try Brian’s Place and sorry we waited so long to try it. Definitely not your typical tired Spring Hill restaurant! The food, atmosphere and service were all equally amazing! I’d put this place up against any restaurant in Tampa. Food was fine dining 10 out of 10. The staff, super friendly and attentive. We had Britney and her numerous recommendations were spot on, she was awesome. The owner Brian even came over to introduce himself, which made us feel right at home. Can’t wait to go back and try something else on their amazing menu.

Looking to try something new and explore our surrounding neighborhood hot spots, we decided to give Brian's Place a try. It's a very nice place with tasteful decor, a small indoor seating area and larger outdoor seating areas very typical of Florida.

A series of unfortunate events with the service staff put a huge damper on the experience. We arrived at 4:30pm on a Wednesday expecting there to be plenty of seating readily available. We asked the brown haired hostess, who greeted us with disdain for interrupting her set up efforts, for an indoor table, only to be told all they had available were outdoor tables. Looking around the room, we see many empty tables with all but one of them having a reserved sign on it and that one needed to be turned.

We opted for the available table and were seated outside hoping the rain will hold out until we had completed our meal. Sadly, the sky opened up between the salad course and our entrees. Unable to continue to sit there, we went inside looking for our server to have the undelivered entrees wrapped to go. As we waited for our order to be brought up, dripping onto the dining room floor, the front of the house manager asked if we would prefer a table inside. We declined, settled the bill, and drove home to eat our food.

If asked to rate just the food, my review would be 5 stars. The filet was succulent, cooked to perfection, and seasoned well. The red snapper had a wonderful crust on it, the mash was on point, and the lemon butter sauce was the surprise star of the dish. We felt the grilled eggplant was a little chewy and butternut squash was a little under cooked but those are subjective to our tastes and did not detract from the dishes. The fact that the dishes were now cold didn't even take away from the flavor.

My issues really center around the service, or lack there of, that started with the RBF on the hostess. At no time was there a smile on her face or an apology for only having outdoor seating available. We were banished to the outside like Remy the rodent in Ratatouille instead of offering seating at the bar or being asked if we could wait a few minutes for the empty table to be turned. Where has customer service gone? When we walked in soaked we were not offered a towel to dry off and when we turned down the table inside (after being told there were none available less than 30 minutes prior) we weren't offered a comp of our meal or even a gratis dessert.

My husband and I, our first time at Brian’s Place. We sat in the main area in a corner near the front door. Nice decorum and the waiter was very good from start to finish. Unfortunately the food not so great. I ordered the Mojo Pork meal. The pork was soggy and bland I could not taste any Mojo at all (seemed to have sat in a pot for several days, tasted old). The black beans the onions are cut too big and the rice and mojo pork were not hot or warm just the beans. My husband had the Hog Fish special, a nice presentation but the fish also had no flavor, very bland. Would be better with a white wine butter lemon caper sauce layered on the bottom. and the fish a bit more spiced up with fresh garlic and salt pepper. The spinach was also very bland, would recommend sautéing in bacon fat and adding some cooked prosciutto sprinkled on top. I am a gourmet cook and always look forward for someone else cooking for me rather than me for everyone else, but this meal no. The appetizer was the chorizo crostini’s. The bread was not cooked enough to provide a crunch for what a crostini should be (could not lift with fingers had to cut with a knife, soggy uncooked burnt flavored bread with the rich buttered sauce). Too much butter sauce that took away from the flavor for the name of the dish, “Chorizo.” Would recommend less sauce and adding some fresh tomatoes with a squeeze of lemon or lime to bring out the star of dish, the “Chorizo.”

So I sat down thinking I was just going to have dinner. What I actually had was a life-changing experience. The grouper cake… crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and basically the a golden cake of happiness. The hogfish dinner came out, and so good I was ready to adopt it as my new next of kin. Perfectly cooked, fresh, and so good I briefly considered writing it into my will.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, the dessert drink of the night arrived: a tequila espresso martini. Whoever invented that deserves a Nobel Prize. It was smooth, strong, and the perfect “I’m classy but also ready to dance on a table” kind of ending. Honestly, five stars doesn’t cut it!! Thank you Brian and your staff for making tonight so memorable!

We had such a lovely meal at Brian's Place! My mom, sister, husband and I visited shortly after opening on a holiday weekend Saturday and had the back patio nearly to ourselves. It was peaceful and offered excellent natural views, including gators who were clearly looking for delicious handouts! Our server, Brittany, elevated our experience by recommending the favorite item of all the meat eaters at our table, the chorizo crostini. I always think of crostini as hard and crunchy but this was made on soft Cuban bread - we would go back just to order this appetizer. (Unfortunately we neglected to get a picture before gobbling it up.) The grouper with plantains was another standout dish. I can't emphasize enough how awesome Brittany was - in addition to food suggestions, she was on top of refills for our waters, leftover boxes, pre-packing our salads with dressing on the side when we ran out of room on the table and bringing us a bunch of extra bread which my mom (the only non-meat eater among us) especially appreciated. We took a couple desserts home but the apps and entrees remained the highlights for us. We hope to be back soon!

Been here twice. Had the grouper the 1st time and it was good enough that we came back a 2nd time . We didn't care for the food and the service was terrible.
The sirloin was very tough and the pork was chewy as if had been dried out and later juices were added to it to try and soften it up. Don't bother replying to this, we won't be back .
