Given limited menu you assume excellent food. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Chicken Marsala had a yellow "Campbell Soup" sauce which was bland. The service lacked with the entre coming out with the salads. The 20% mandatory tip was ridiculous given the poor, rushed experience.

This is a tourist trap if I've ever seen one. The food is pricey, service is rude, and when we got our check there is a "Con fee" ontop of the 20% gratuity on 1 persons or more. When we were sitting down instead of being told "we are ready for you" we were told by the waiter to "come on already" which should have been our indicator to just leave in addition to having to go back up to a hostess stand to ask if our table was ready or not after nearly 20 minutes of waiting paat the time we were told. Overall it's a overpriced, so so food that i could have saved money on, and when we paid the check after learning about the 20% for one person or more our waiter had an attitude when he saw we didn't tip in addition to the 20. All in all would not go again and would save money .

Beware of tip being added to your bill if more than one person in your group. It’s American Italian. Food is still good.
I’d like to begin by clarifying this review/critique. I’ve been in the restaurant business for over 23/years in the NY/LI region. I’ve experienced just about every thing imaginable in this industry. This review is based on two criteria…organization/management and food/service. Every restaurant I’ve worked in is under duress from the moment the doors are unlocked. On the night we came it was Friday Valentines Day( other than Mother’s Day)one of the busiest in the business. Nonna’s is a relatively small establishment on a narrow side street and sidewalk with about 5 indoor tables and 7- 8 outdoors…and a busy bar/restaurant next door add to the foot traffic. Normally Nonna’s is a walk in but on this night they were by reservation with seating at 5 7 9. The initial encounter was somewhat chaotic as servers were hustling and no real seating plan existed as they don’t do reservations or specified seating times. We arrived checked in and went next door to grab a drink, minutes later when I returned I was informed my reserved table was given away…WTF(typical NY reaction..lol). I stepped away for a moment and when told a table was opening up another new arrival complained apparently unaware I was ahead of him. This scenario was unfortunate and avoidable but staff was in new territory on this night. Once seated our server, Nino(the son of the owner…Amano)was extremely accommodating and professional if somewhat overwhelmed. We ordered from a special menu which was very limited but the food was outstanding. Amano oversees the entire process but he can’t be everywhere all the time. Clearly the kitchen was struggling as our entree’s….grouper and shrimp with mashed potatoes and the pasta Puttanesca were superb but I ordered chicken with the pasta which was missing, came out before the fried ravioli appetizer was served with the delicious house salad coming out last, unacceptable. Amano was extremely gracious with apologies and price adjustments were made without my input…very professional. They worked their tails off all night and I plan to come back during less hectic times to enjoy superb food and service. Thank you Amano,Nino and staff…Steve.

I had never been to Nonnas Trattoria even though I have lived in St Augustine for 36 years. I will never go again - ever as in never.
We stood outside the door for over 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged with no one ahead of us. We finally receded with not a hello good evening nothing. Great service so far right? We opened our menus and decided what we wanted.
As you can see by the picture below, the chicken dishes are served with a side. Does not specify what side just a side. When I ordered my chicken parmigiana I asked for a salad. The waitress asked me if I wanted red sauce or alfredo sauce for my parmigiana. I'm not really a marinara sauce type of person so I asked for alfredo. What I got was chicken parmigiana with red sauce and a a small side of penne pasta with alfredo sauce. I also got my salad. When the bill came, the person with whom I was having dinner was looking it over and said we were charged for a salad. I said well we should not have been. He calls the waitress over and he tells her and explains the situation. She looks me straight in the eye and said you asked for alfredo and I said yes I asked for alfredo sauce. She said well I gave it to you. I said no, you gave me penne with alfredo sauce. I did not ask for Penne. She argued with us for 5 minutes. I explained to her that the chicken parmigiana said it came with a side and that I asked for a salad as my side. Not only did she continue to argue with a customer who had spent over $100 for dinner, she never apologized and never offered to take the salad off the check. That is not good customer service. I know that my review is very long. But every bit of it needed to be said. I very really complain about anything restaurant. I wasn't complaining about the food I wasn't even complaining about the service I was complaining about the lack of courtesy on the part of the waitress and pointing out what it said on the menu.
If you ever go there, and the waitress with the dark hair and glasses is your server remembered to be very explicit in your order.

I will caveat this review by acknowledging our visit was on a Saturday night and the area was busy. We were able to get right into Nonnas without a reservation or a wait.
Menu is limited and that’s ok but nothing was exceptional. Chicken parm was bland, chicken was minimally prepared (not really pounded flat or uniform). It was like boneless chicken breasts from supermarket with some breading. Sauce was bland lacking seasoning. Caesar salad romaine was fresh and crisp and the dressing was good (though not traditional).
Service was rushed. Maybe that’s a sign of efficiency but it felt hurried.
It what you would expect in a tourist area. 20% gratuity included even though we had just two people. Not a fan of that

Service and atmosphere were fantastic, I felt like I was in Italy…but the food was so overpriced for what it was. The salads clearly looked like they were regular spring mix bought from the grocery store, same with the spaghetti for my shrimp scampi. I could have gotten a much better meal for $10 rather than a $40 entree.

We went on a Monday night, no wait to sit. The plates were a bit pricey but the portion huge, definitely shareable. Kids plate was also abundant. Service was quick, the menu was very limited. But it also said Holiday Menu so I’m not sure if this is only a during the week thing. Overall, the food was very tasty but a bit expensive.

Overall, I would call this a non-authentic Italian place, it's small and cozy but there is no organization for people to get inside, people had to wait outside and no one was telling them how long. Food was Olive Garden level.

Too bad you can’t give 0 stars. We went in early (5:20) @& the place was empty. The server asked how many, which we were 2 but going to be 4. She told us they couldn’t seat incomplete parties. Now mind you #1 I worked many years in F&B I get that you don’t want to seat a 6top when only 2 ppl are present.
However…literally all of the tables were 4 tops. So what difference would it make to seat us & then have our daughter join?
Additionally she was rather snarky about it.
It’s so stupid it’s hard to comprehend.
We are locals & we def won’t be back. They need to train their staff in hospitality, but I guess you can fix dumb.

Cool place, pretty expensive for serving size. Ravioli appetizer was okay not super impressive. Chicken piccata was delicious and was three good size pieces of chicken. Tiramisu was really good

I just paid 100 dollars for food poisoning.
And 20% of that was service charged without my consent. Awful.
But I think the worst part was feeling like just a number to them. We asked to sit by the window. It was empty, no reservations. But the server said he saved those tables for bigger parties. ( It was no bigger than our table that was in a dark corner near the bathroom.) AND they were closing soon. No one ever came. He was more concerned about saving the nice tables for a larger party with more potential for tips.
Finally, they close at 10 but started chasing us out around 9:15. They even took the water I was in the middle of drinking.
Very disappointed.

Overpriced Tourist trap. With substandard food, on par with Olive Garden. To be fair, the service was good. The unavailable items (Sangria) from an already limited menu were disappointing. The fried calamari app ($17.99) contained nine rings, $2 per bite. Caesar salad, with no romaine, not tossed. Mixed greens and baby spinach with dressing drizzled over. Not ideal. $27.99 for chicken parm, that was not breaded. Barely had any mozzarella on top. With spaghetti marinara that tasted like ragu. Chicken Alfredo for $26.99. Looked like a lean cuisine frozen dinner. I don’t mean to come off as scornful. But I was profoundly unhappy with this dining experience.

Food wasn’t bad, service wasn’t bad, but they add a 20% gratuity to every check, it’s understandable for a party of 5+. But we were two people, what should’ve been a 55/60 dollar meal ended up being over 70 because of the forced added tip, we were going to tip over 20% in cash anyway but decided against it once we saw we were already charged a tip by force.
