Absolutely unacceptable experience at Sushi 99 in St. Augustine, FL.

As a DoorDash driver trying to make extra money, I waited over an hour for an order while watching other Dashers and Uber Eats drivers—who arrived after me—receive their food first. There was no explanation, no accountability, just blatant favoritism.

To make matters worse, the owner was rude and hostile, yelling at me for supposedly arriving “too early,” even though I had already been waiting 15 minutes at that point. That is not how you treat delivery drivers, who are an extension of your business and represent your restaurant to customers.

The operation felt disorganized and unprofessional, and the branding felt misleading compared to the actual experience. Whether you’re a customer or a delivery driver, expect long waits, poor communication, and disrespect.

I will not be picking up orders from here again, and I strongly caution others in St. Augustine, FL to do the same.

This place is an absolute hidden gem and has to be one of the best sushi restaurants I have been to. To begin with, the atmosphere is amazing and eye catching , with the restaurant feeling like it was built yesterday. The sushi tastes amazing and fresh, with the sashimi melting in your mouth. The service is fast, and our sushi boat came in 10 to 15 mins. This has to be one of my favorite restaurants. 5 stars.

Small, but delicious!!

Im giving 5 stars because compared to the other Asian food options in St Augustine, Sushi 99 is far better. However, our family has been going here since they opened. At first like all new restaurants, they were on their A game. Lately though, service has seemed a little slower, food is still good and the restaurant has a good atmosphere. Prices have jumped significantly, which has limited us from visiting more often. But, if locals are looking for good Sushi and Asian cuisine, this place is worth the visit. And for those who are gluten free, they can make dishes gluten free. Another huge win for Sushi 99. Chicken hibachi is good gluten free.

Just left the hospital while pregnant because I found roaches in my soup after I already drank almost all of it!!!!

Popped in there to watch the game while the wifey was getting her nails done. Awesome vibe. They gave me the remote to watch whatever football i wanted!
Cold beer and great sushi!! We will definitely be back.

We have been there twice this month and the food was excellent. Our server, Kayle, was fantastic. She made us feel at home. I promised her a flan, which I made yesterday, Monday Sept 22 to take to her today Sept23 but I had not read they are closed on Tuesday. So, Kayle, if you are there in Dec, when I return to St Augustine, I will make another flan and take it to you.
