Cane and Barrel Rooftop Bar

I went to Crane and Barrel last weekend for a birthday dinner, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had (and I actually didn't even get to dine). A friend of mine made a reservation for a party of eight and even confirmed it not once, not twice, but three separate times. It was her BIRTHDAY dinner and she wanted to make sure they were aware of the reservation and that it was all set. We had seen the restaurant online and were genuinely excited to try it—especially because of the rooftop, which they prominently market.

When we arrived, the hostess led us to what felt like a corporate meeting room—definitely not the atmosphere we had anticipated. We were then informed that the bar area and rooftop were completely occupied due to a private event, so they were using this back room for their remaining reservations. Given that we confirmed our reservation multiple times, it would have been reasonable to expect a heads-up that half the restaurant was closed to the public.

Less than a minute after we sat down, the manager walked in and told us we would need to leave immediately because the private event now required that space as well, due to weather. There was no sincere apology—just a half-hearted, dismissive one—and no effort made to accommodate us or make up for the major inconvenience they caused.

As someone who works in the event industry, I found it incredibly unprofessional that they accepted large party reservations knowing a private event would take up the majority of their space. It was a Friday night, so as you can imagine, trying to find a last-minute table elsewhere for a group our size was nearly impossible.

To make matters worse, several employees apologized to us and mentioned they had warned management ahead of time that allowing reservations that night was a mistake. It’s never a good sign when your own team sees the problems coming and leadership fails to act. They also said that they had multiple other reservations they would have to turn down that night.

Overall, I was extremely disappointed. This restaurant may have a great online reputation, but based on my experience, I would not recommend it. Poor communication, lack of professionalism, and a complete disregard for guest experience.

The most unprofessional restaurant and bar I have ever been to in my life. The management is beyond awful, and we were truly lost for words with the way they treated us. We made a reservation weeks in advance for a birthday to be seated on the rooftop, but when we got there they shoved us into this side room since a wedding event had booked the outside. This room might have been the ugliest room I have seen in a restaurant… it looked like a dental office. Not only were we not seated where we had the made the reservation, it took them approximately a minute before they kicked us out. Daydra, the manager, said they had to move the wedding party inside since it looked it was going to rain, which meant our table was given up to them. She said we had the leave immediately, and did not offer any comped food or drinks or any gift cards. Management left us high and dry after ruining a special day for us. Daydra should be fired for her sheer incompetence and lack of hospitality. I would never in a million years return here or ever suggest that anyone comes.

The food was totally amazing along with rest service and amazing views!

We had a fantastic experience at Cane & Barrel in St. Pete! Carmen was our server and she was absolutely wonderful professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly. She not only helped us choose some amazing food and cocktails but also gave us great suggestions for things to do around town.

The food was outstanding we had the yucca fries, octopus, and empanadas, and everything was delicious. To top it off, the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality and atmosphere.

We’re also attending a wedding reception here tomorrow and, after tonight’s experience, we’re even more excited! Highly recommend Cane & Barrel great service, incredible food, and an overall excellent vibe.

Love this spot. Second time here this year and will definitely be coming back every time we’re in St.Pete. Logan was our server and was super kind and accommodating!

HORRIBLE I MEAN HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I arrived at 9:40 and the kitchen closes at 10 pm. The only thing I asked for was for Caramel empanadas upon arrival and that it was my Birthday. No one came to the table for 15 minutes and when the server arrived he said the kitchen was closed and that the host informed us . Sophia the hostess had horrible communication between the server and our table. The Manager never acknowledged me standing there to express what happened. I will contact the General manager because we rushed to Cane & Barrel for a dessert and a night cap of drinks. NEVER AGAIN

Not at all what I expected.

Real nice rooftop bar but the service was awful and the food is not good. I’m probably being unfair cuz I’m from Houston where the food is A+ but taking 15 minutes for a beer is kinda crazy and no, it wasn’t busy.

It was slow when we went, so I can't say what it's like at peak business. When we were there, the bartenders were friendly and efficient.

Literally below sup-par food and service. The view is amazing - about the only thing that saved it. The waitress hardly checked on us at all (definitely didn't earn her large party included tip). The food took over an hour and came out in different rounds. We all got different things and they were all bad. Two of my friends got the same thing and the bowls looked completely different and had different things in it. I wouldn't ever go back here again.

Horrible food and drinks and wait is long. Been here 2x, hoping the 2nd time would be good but no go. Everyone in our group didn’t like the food. Its a really cute restaurant and location is great though! But don’t come here expecting to eat good. I hope they read this review and work on improving the food because the view is so nice and it’s such a shame.

8th floor bar was nice , concept is Mexican themed food and drinks .... wasn't as crisp and precise as I expected
