Have been coming for the matinee buffet for quite some time. Nice buffet and a beautiful view of the track. Very relaxing and enjoyable day. We request John as our server. He takes very good care of his customers. We came for the crab buffet in November and was disappointed with the crab. It seemed as if it had been cooked, refrozen and then cooked again. It seemed very mushy. I will stay with the Matinee buffet, always happy with that.
Saw the ad in the paper for the buy one get one free buffet for $37. Also saw where they have blue crab on the buffet. I LOVE blue crab!!! This is in the dog track and the setting is overlooking the track so you can see the dog races. Opened at 6 PM and we left at 9, takes a while to pick crabs. The crabs were HUGE!!! I have never eaten crab that big or that good and I am from NJ and been to the best in three states. This exceeded all expectations. Buffet available at half price only on Friday evening through October. Its a good deal
Great track view. Buffet was terrible for $37 a person.
No kids under 10. Place is a dump. Burn in hell...
ValerieJ578, Thank you for coming! I hope we do get to see you again soon. -Alexis Winning
We were taken to our table right away and asked what we wanted to drink, and waters, coffee and cocktails were delivered promptly. Buffet was nicely organized, with labels for each item. Especially good were the short ribs and fried chicken. All the buffet items were replenished before running out, and it was great to see the staff take away what was left in the pans, and replaced with fresh...no one scraped the old stuff on top of the new! Loved that. Everything I had was tasty and the omelet station was staffed by two cooks, so no waiting to get your eggs cooked your way, with the usual toppings. Only sorta, kinda complaint...dessert variety was lacking, and so-so tasting. We'll certainly go back a few more times before the unfortunate shutdown of racing at the end of 2020.
Love this place. The food is great. Love the servers
The service for the Saturday brunch was superior and the eclectic commendable comestibles were fresh and tasty. It was our first time here and, using an $80 gift voucher, we were pleasantly surprised to find that all the food as well as all non-alcoholic drinks were covered by that "Brunch for Four" voucher even though the nominal bill for the buffet and beverages exceeded the stated value of the gift voucher. We look forward to returning again and are disappointed that the Greyhound Track is scheduled to be closed. Perhaps the Circa 1925 restaurant will survive longer, and not "go to the dogs".
Hi, Ed! I hope you and your friend come back and see us before racing ends on December 31st, 2020. -Alexis Winning
I booked this months in advance so we thought we would have seats closer to the track not the very top level. The table we were seated at was right beside a very large loud group even though there were other tables. I wish we had asked to be moved because it spoiled the evening for us. The food was great the servers were great so overall Derby Lanes staff deserve lots of praise.

it's a bit pricey considering they don't offer any type of desert with the buffet, dessert is extra,, there were lots of empty tables so it was enjoyable until they seated a man behind us at the next table,, a very noisy diner, after he left, on our side of the dinning hall there were only 6 occupied tables that was at the 7th race.
I'm a big fan and frequent visitor to Derby Lane and disappointed that voters have chosen to end dog racing in Florida. While I would love to say support their facility I can't. I'll comment on price below but that is not the basis for my review. We found the buffet lacking in quality and choices and not up to the standard it used to have. Also, perhaps I was mistaken, at an earlier track day in January the Racing Program had an ad that the first Friday of the month was a buy one get one free buffet (that was also the program in Q4 2018). But that was not what I was charged. The waitress was kind enough to point out that if I had a ValPak coupon it would have given me 1/2 off the 2nd buffet. I have to assume the new program replaced the buy one get one.
The food quality and value of this restaurant is not what it was in the past. Could not even cut through the sirloin steak and several dishes were not hot - some barely warm. There were not a lot of wait staff, and ours was rarely seen. We weren't even offered dessert which was a shame as it was my husband's birthday and we most likely would have ordered something. The atmosphere was pleasant and nice way to enjoy dog racing when it's chilly outside, but probably won't be going back anytime soon.
we came for brunch to celebrate my 62 birthday....great brunch, awesome bloody mary.....John was a great server....we totally support Derby Lane....we love Circa1925 for sure....we are blessed to have a retired Greyhound at home! He's a joy in every way! Once U go Grey there's NO other way! deb
Totally enjoyed our Dinner Buffet. We've been to greyhound racing a number of time (sorry to see it go in a couple of years). This was a nice way to see the races. Went for dinner, crab legs were awesome, buffet food was hot and very good. A nice nite out. A little pricey, but coupons can be found and the lunch buffet costs a little less.
