This place was a sad joke. Went in after 10 ordered fish tacos. Was told they don't make "certain menu items" late at night. Asked for something different. Same response, with no details. No night time menu. So I said I'd just like veggie tacos. What these people sent me home with was tortillas covered in cabbage and raw onion. No joke. No tomatoes, no lettuce, no beans, no rice, no sauce, no nothing. And the teenagers working were rude. Will never visit again.

The nachos were fire! I also loved the hot sauce selection. Both our kids were happy which hardly ever occurs simultaneously. I liked how the kids quesadilla was reasonably priced. I can't tell you how many times I've spent $8 dollars for cheese and a tortilla after spending only $3 on an adult sized taco. Staff was friendly too.

Being from central Texas we have really enjoyed all the Excellent Seafood here in the Florida area. That being said, we were in need of some Tex-Mex to tide us over until we returned to the lone star state. This place fit the bill. It's not what we are accustomed to, but that being said it's pretty Bueno. The Carne Asada torta was very good, the meat was tender and had a good flavor. The hot sauce has some kick to it and recommend the jalapeno sauce. The place has a little patio you can dine outside, and the staff was very friendly. We will be back before we head back home.

The food is good and a decent price, but the horchata is what I love! I could drink gallons of it! It sounds like such a weird combination, rice milk and cinnamon, but it was great! I will be back for more!

I went today to Grumpy Gringo in St Pete, I like the foods but the service was bad. The guy just so rude. Sorry what ever you have good foods but I will never come back with bad service.

Great place for late night tacos. I would recommend if not super hungry to only get 1 street taco they are very filling. The light green sauce has a little kick the jalapeno garlic. Most of the chips were still stale unfortunately and needed to get new ones. The guac is okay but not made fresh. The atmosphere is fun with reggae music playing in the background. They are open until 3am on saturday.

This place is the best. I'm so happy they opened one downtown.

The potatoes in my taco were extremely undercooked. All of the other elements were pretty good, but the other Grumpy Gringo is 10 times better.

Vegan friendly!! And friendly in general. Food fresh & serve beer. We were there around 10p on a Fri nt. and the service was fantastic. Veg peeps will luv this.. I asked "if I want a taco with no meat does that mean just beans & onions?" (Like most places, so I'm used to it), and they were like "no, you're meat option can be mushrooms or zucchini". Stunned, just stunned... I was so happy! That it was not just fake meat option or fajita peppers. I shudda taken a pic, my taco meal was SO good (I did mushroom option, then added guac & pickled red onions). They have the vegan cheese if you want. I've never had this many options at a fast mexican restaurant. Thank you!

We've been visiting and enjoying Grumpy Gringo since the Taco Son days, and about once a month get a text for a special offer (e.g. $2 tacos) if you visit that same day. Yesterday's text is attached. Since we were going to a movie last night at the Sundial and got the text offer, we thought we'd use it at the downtown location before the movie. The cashier wasn't sure what the text was so went over to the manager sitting against the wall and asked him, only to come back and tell us it wasn't good. You'd think the manager would come over himself to give the explanation as we were about 20 feet away at the checkout and there were no other customers in the restaurant. So I walked over to the manager and asked him why the offer was not good and he said with no personality whatsoever that they were "Grumpy Gringo Street Fare," not Grumpy Gringo. How would I know this? Look at the image of the website home page - it clearly indicates "Grumpy Gringo" has two locations, one of which was where I was standing. And he said he'd "never in his life" seen this text. Really, I get it monthly? Now the savings for us meant 4 tacos times 75 cents. We can live without the $3. The savings for "Grumpy Gringo Street Fare" meant not alienating a repeat customer by displaying some sort of human emotion, such as saying sorry for the confusion. All anyone wants is to be treated like someone cares. St Pete has way too many other wonderful neighboring small businesses to spend time and money at this place.

This is the nastiest place I've ever been too. I was watching them cook in the back and not ONE person was wearing gloves, and were all touching the food with there bare hands. Not to mention all the ants on the counter. I came here once and saw a huge cock roach in the refried beans. This is hands down the nastiest place I've ever been to and should be closed down immediately!

There is bad Mexican food and there is this place on its own bad place. At least be honest be customers and only offer the items In your menu that you can actually make.

Yelp is - understandably - asking that reviews keep in mind the effect COVID is having on businesses, so I try to do that here. Maybe COVID had to do with the small portions of "main" filling and excessive portions of raw onions. Maybe COVID had to do with waiting 15 minutes for a kids quesadilla, six tacos, and a torta despite every person in the world apparently working this shift. Maybe COVID is why said torta was 90% bland bread, 6% veggies, and 4% meat. It could be that COVID is why the only things they have to entice kids is a quesadilla (uncut corn tortilla with cheese) or a hot dog. No kids taco or taquito or even any sides. Maybe COVID is the reason they seemed to be out of several things, or why some of what we ordered was more expensive than what was on the menu. Maybe covid had something to do with all these things, but I really think this is just an awful attempt at Latin American street food.
