My husband and I visited for his birthday. We didn’t realize it was more casual, so we ended up a bit overdressed. The space is smaller than it appears in the photos.
We both ordered the prime ribeye medium well. His came out perfect, but mine was undercooked and closer to raw, with very little seasoning. The butter pecan sweet mash, however, was outstanding, and the lobster bisque was good—though it tasted more like Alfredo than seafood.
One thing that bothered me was the open view into the kitchen. While I appreciate seeing the chefs at work, there were two young boys playing right next to where the food was being prepared, which was concerning.

The food was better than I could have expected, steak was perfectly cooked and the sea bass was melt in your mouth good. Was pleasantly surprised on everything I ordered. The espresso martini was excellent with the bread pudding and crème brûlée cheesecake for dessert! I wasn’t expecting as much from the outside but the food was better than most of the bougie places downtown! Amazing food quality and service. I highly recommend stopping in here for an absolutely phenomenal meal!
Roam is not to be missed. This intimate, family owned hidden gem is a stand out in St. Pete, amongst a plethora of culinary options. The service is from another time- when you know people's name and a little about them, and they recognize you as soon as you walk in the door. Every bite of every dish is flavored and cooked perfectly. The bread pudding is an explosion of amazing-ness, but it's hard to call out any particular dish, everything we have ever had has been exceptional. Just go!

This has been on my list for a while and upset I didn’t get here sooner. Food and service were exceptional. I’ll be going back just for the loaded oysters.

Wow….had my first and most amazing Tomahawk at this Steakhouse. Upon walking in we were invited to a table by one of the owners. The atmosphere was very inviting with large pictures of landscapes from around the world. Started off with the Spicy Guava Margarita which had a delicious balance of sweet and spicy. It was so good that we ordered two. For appetizer we tried the Flame Charred Parmesan Oysters that was over the top delicious. First time for my hubby and he is now sold on them, as well as I am!!! We then had the ROAM salad which consisted of a spring mix of lettuce, strawberries, goat cheese and candied walnuts. The goat cheese was extremely creamy and an excellent pair with the strawberries. The highlight was the phenomenally delicious 36 oz Tomahawk that was charred to perfection. It was the most juicy and flavorful steak I have ever had. It was so huge that it is served in a serving platter!! We even had leftovers. To finish out the meal, we ordered the New York Cheesecake that was absolutely delicious and very creamy. Our server, Jordan, was truly amazing. He was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating by answering all our questions. He is the true definition of what customer service is. Thank you Jordan for an over the top experience!!
Don’t let the outside venue deter you from this incredibly exceptional dining experience. We will definitely be going back!!!

I had a great experience at Rome Steakhouse in St. Pete! It’s always a bonus to support a Black-owned business, and this place truly delivered. The staff was friendly and attentive from start to finish. The owners even took the time to stop by and chat with guests, which gave the evening a warm, personal touch.
Our server, Chavon, was fantastic—knowledgeable about the menu and gave excellent recommendations. The handcrafted drinks were phenomenal, and the R&B music playing at a comfortable volume added to the relaxed vibe.
We ordered the sea bass, which was cooked to perfection, and the Brussels sprouts were my personal favorite—crispy, flavorful, and addictive. The oysters were on the smaller side but packed a flavorful punch. The steak was seasoned well, and the loaded potatoes and spinach sides were exactly what we expected—classic and satisfying.
The restaurant itself is small but clean and cozy. Bench seating was decent for our short stay, though they also offer nicely cushioned chairs for a more comfortable option.
A 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill, which is something to be aware of. The service was excellent, so it felt well-earned, but it's helpful to know in advance.
All in all, Rome Steakhouse is a gem worth visiting. Great food, great vibes, and even better service. Will definitely be back!

Bamboozled by tiktok. Extremely overpriced. They saw us walk in and didnt even acknowledge us. I asked if had to seat ourselves. The drinks were good but the service sucked and the food is mediocre. I was trying to support black owned but never again

The food was perfect! We had the crab cakes(the best) oysters, lamb chops, steak(mash potatoes and green beans) we also had drinks (nice and strong) and dessert (chocolate lava). I will absolutely return. The food compares to Ruth Chris, Flemings. Don't let the outside deter you.

The food was excellent. The service was excellent if a tad slow. The place looks really blah from the outside, but inside it is quite different. The quality of the food is truly unexpected. The only thing that kills it for me is all the tables lined up against the walls like in a school or something. It is really weird. Not that you'd get an interior decorator and ruin the authenticity of the place, but placing tables in the middle would make it more of a restaurant.

This review is from 6/7/25 visit.
Let’s just say we as minority owned businesses need to do better. This is not a bash black owned either review.
It was my cousin’s birthday—we had a reservation and confirmation, but somehow… they lost it. We were left standing outside because the space was tight. I was hot, sweaty, and tired of standing, so I sat at the bar—then the rest of the crew followed.
From the bar, I could see right into the kitchen. One of the cooks had wicks and no hairnet. Now y’all know I work in kitchens, so my alarm was already going off.
They told us we’d be seated after another big party, but I never saw that party. Instead, they sat us after seeing us standing around.
Now the server… chile… no smile, no warm welcome—just vibes like she was over it. I asked for a menu, and she hit me with a look like, they’re already on the table. But people were clearly sharing. Meanwhile, a stack of menus was just chilling at the bar.
Menu looked decent though—I was excited to try the food. I didn’t even know it was Black-owned until I got there.
I started with the roam oysters. They were okay. A couple needed more time—still kinda raw and room temp. My drink, though? Whew! It was a lavender mix with passion fruit, strong and GOOD. Whoever’s on bar duty—shoutout to them for the heavy hand!
Then came my entrée: 14oz ribeye, medium, with loaded mash and broccolini. Steak and mash came out first—steak was cooked to perfection but way too salty. Mash had flavor but too much liquid margarine and unmelted cheese. Broccolini came out 8 minutes later… I touched it—it was cold. Like, walk-in fridge cold. Sent that right back.
And just when I thought it couldn’t get worse… I found a hair in my steak. I let the manager know, and he really said, ‘Whose hair is it?’ Sir… c’mon now.
They brought another steak 25 minutes later. The manager was nice about it and made a joke saying and there is no hair lol. But this time it was medium rare. No one checked in on me to see how it was. I would have expected Ted the manager to stay while I cut it yo ensure it was done right. I couldn’t get anyone for about 15-20 min I finally flagged the server, told her it was undercooked. She just said ok. No fix, no follow-up. I get it they probably were ashamed but you want your customer experience to be better and atleast satisfactory.
I just asked them to take it off the tab. We finished up and left.
The vibe? Off. The food? Inconsistent. And the service? Unbothered. I don’t think they’re ready for big parties—or for guests who expect more.
