I considered not writing a review, but we honestly had a very disruptive and negative experience. Last Sunday we were in St. Pete and decided to try Wild Child. With no reservation and it was after 12:00, I called ahead to the hostess to see if seats happened to be l available for two adults and a baby in a high chair. She assures me yes, that we could be seated almost immediately. I thank her and let her know we’d be there in 20-30 min. We arrive, and she proceeds to try to seat us outside, next to the road under a small umbrella. I’m 5 months pregnant, this is visually obvious to anyone looking at me, and we have an 18 month old in our arms. Sitting outside in mid-July in Florida is not a safe option for me or my child. We ask multiple times regarding indoor seating, and she refuses to seat us at a 2-top table saying a high chair “won’t fit.” She begrudgingly, after a few minutes back and forth, shows us to a table on the side of the restaurant under a covered awning, but very firmly tells us she’s not moving the fans because they’re “strategically placed” (note: we didn’t ask her to, she just unprompted laid down this ground rule as we get to the table.) We try to sit down because at this point it’s getting late and we’re hungry as is our son, but we end up leaving that table because of the heat and requesting once more for an indoor table and she again refuses to let us sit at the available 2 top table I can see right in front of me. Her only option she was willing to give was a 4 top with an hour wait. So we had to leave.
It took us forever to find a new place to eat, and the joke was that at the next restaurant their 2 top tables were equally close if not closer together than Wild Child’s, and they accommodated us with a high chair no questions asked.
My issue is that we called ahead and were told one thing, after I disclosed that we had baby in a high chair, and drove a half hour on the assurance that a table would be reasonably available, only to discover the “available seat” is outside. My issue is we were refused service inside because we had a child. The hostess was a complete gatekeeper and unreasonably offered an unusable table and then what protected the inside of the restaurant from our child and “inconvenience” of his high chair? It feels more like discrimination.
Just tell people in advance if a seat is outside and set clear expectations (we wouldn’t have come if she had told us that, and this review wouldn’t be happening now). Definitely don’t assume a baby in a high chair can be outside mid-July, next to the road(!). The absurdity of that is something I just can’t get past. Definitely don’t hold your ground on outdoor seating for the pregnant woman standing in front of you when an open table is clearly available inside, visible through the glass front door.
We likely will not return due to this poor service and experience, which is shame because we hear good things about the chef and menu.

Came to Wild Child for a family dinner. Excellent dining with chef driven menu on Central Ave. Creative Culinary kitchen with love and soul. Flavor comes first here. I love this weeks Asian influenced inspired menu. Definitely need to return.

Stopped by for a quick brunch with my mom during the big Pride street fair. We had an amazing time and were seated super quickly even though it was supposed to be a 30 minute wait! Food and drinks were incredible, I had the Gem Lettuce salad with an Aperol Spritz- 10 out of 10!! Service was fantastic too. Will absolutely coming back

The menu is uniquely crafted. We had the goat cheese stuffed squash... WOW! So many flavors that all complemented each other! We also had the veggie paella and it was delicious!! Crafty cocktails were on point too!! There are a few mocktails that all sounded amazing as well. I would say this is a great date night spot, or friends/ladies night out! Reso was easy to make. You'll definitely want one as this little gem is quaint in size, but delivers big on food/drink!

I came for the cocktails, but I would cross state lines for those corn croquetas. Creamy, crispy, ridiculous. They don’t just hit — they haunt (in the best way).
Everything else is great too, but let’s be honest: I’m here for the croquetas and I’m not shy about it.

I came here a year ago and had to come back again so I did and let me tell you that the food was just great! I loved it and just couldn’t be happier with it, the cocktails were delicious… I even tried a mocktail and it was good. The service could’ve been better, well I expected better since there was only two tables but overall really great.

Fun weekend in St Pete that happened to culminate in a delicious meal at Wild Child. After taking in the some other great offerings nearby we decided to make the trek to Grand Central district and happy we did. The vibe was fun and energetic and then at Wild Child we got an outdoors seat and despite being June the temps were good and the environment was fantastic. Once the food arrived I knew we made a good decision just based on the look, but don’t take my words and picture for it, go try for yourself 😋
