Truly old time BBQ. E& J's is a family business and they have been kicking out really good barbecue for over 7 years now. The only reason I didn't give them five stars overall is the barbecue sauce was not unique and seems like store-bought. The sauce is good, just a bit sweet for my taste. The place is a small shack style building, with several good smoker pits, and is not a dine-in restaurant. It's kind of like a permanent roadside pit from the old days. (60's & 70's) They have a large parking lot in the back where you can park and eat, if you're not taking it to go back home with you. The prices are great. The portions are fair, the employees are friendly like family, and the service is super fast. I had the pulled pork sandwich with two sides, and then went back and got another pulled pork sandwich and the ribs combo. The pulled pork is good, and the ribs are what I would call riblets but there was a good portion and they were really good also. So if you want some really good takeout barbecue fast, go to E&J's on Monroe Street, I think you will be happy you did! (I went back for seconds)
The meat is amazing, and the prices can not be beaten. There is a reason there is a line! It's a pick-up restaurant, limited/no seating. Drinks are also limited to generic fruit soda flavors.

This bbq taste like a 16 year cooked it. Very much taste like lighter fluid. Sides are gross. Ribs were tough. Chicken had feathers still attached. Honestly I dont know how they still in business on the blk side of town. Canned beans and wat i saw as mac n cheese should scare you

I love this place and the price you cannot be but today I will say they dropped the ball. I ordered two plates with mac and cheese and one plate had a dead fly in it. The plate was for my daughter and we both lost our appetite after that. Not sure if I’ll ever go back. They just have to be mindful when they are cooking. The food is good but a dead fly, not so good.

This is by far the best deal in town. This food is amazing and It's ONLY $5.00 2 sides poto salad and baked beans and your choice of meat chicken, or ribs. I believe there's other choices but I always get one of those. They also have desserts for a little bit more but I differently recommend this place.

I just wanted a great slab of ribs for my birthday. This was just the ticket, a big rack, not too fatty, cooked to perfection, and ready to pickup when promised. Who could ask for more?
