Went here with a friend for a Saturday lunch. It wasn't crowded and the food was great! I got the pork katsu rice bowl and eel nagiri. Everything was fresh and well-prepared. Highly recommend it for an affordable experience with Japanese cuisine.

We are new to Tallahassee and just moved to the midtown area where Izzy’s is and had been recommended to my wife and I for solid sushi. We decided would get a babysitter for our toddler and give Izzy’s a visit for the first time this Saturday evening. When we get to the restaurant the bartender at the door told us it could be a 20 min to 1 hour wait before we would be first in line for a table, granted there were open tables on the patio. Okay… no problem, we decided we would take a seat at two empty bar stools at the bar and order a couple of drinks while we wait. The same bartender less than 30 seconds after we sit down at the BAR tells my wife and I “If it’s going to be like that then you need to move and let the people in front of you sit at the bar”, the couple he was pointing to were already sitting at a window bar by the entrance. Flabbergasted by how rude the bartender had been since walking in I had to walk outside with my wife to cool off. After a few minutes we decided we would go back and give it another try since the menu and beers on tap looked pretty solid for a place that is a 30 second drive from our house. Upon returning to the front door at 7:20pm on a SATURDAY they had put a note on the door saying they would not seat anyone for the remainder of the evening. Not sure we will ever go there again after that experience which is a major bummer.

I tried to go there around 8:30 PM, but there was a piece of paper on the door saying that they weren't seating any more tables, even though it was an hour before closing time. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to go.
Date night was awesome! The staff are very friendly and professional, and the food was amazing! The chicken curry soup was comfort in a bowl, and the sushi is on point!

You can’t run a restaurant like this. Wait for food is too long. Prices are too high for the food you deliver. The place is dirty and run down.

Solid sushi bar with a great lunch special. $15 for 2 basic rolls with soup and salad. Good fish to rice ratio. Would eat here again for lunch.

Mothers day Omasake! What a stellar treat! Paired with a sake flight. Exquisite!
This was a multicourse small dish presentation with the chef/owner and manager. Delicious bites of rare, high grade fish. Each piece carefully presented and explained.
We enjoy Izzy for sushi ? sometimes and have always been pleased. But thus was a whole extra level of excellence. Perfect for a very special celebration.
I'll post pictures shortly...

I don't come to Tallahassee often and when I do I struggle to find good food here.Izzy was an outlier. I ordered the spider roll and Tallahassee roll. Both were super fresh and tasty.I think my only complaints were, I think the eel sauce was a bit too much (also seemed too thick?)And i personally though the prices were quite high, 11$ for spider, and I think $18 for TallahasseeI'm used to $8 for spider and like $14 for a signature roll. All in all nice place

Walking into Izzy feels like walking into a Tokyo Izakaya. It's cozy and intimate while still feeling a classy. The food is STUNNING (been several times, never been disappointed) and the atmosphere is perfect. But what really gets Izzy a 5-star in my opinion is their service and care. I have a soy allergy that often makes eating at sushi/Asian fare restaurants difficult, as it really limits the menu (I still like sushi though).I have never had staff care and take as much time to ensure there is no cross contamination as Izzy does.Every time I go to Izzy's, the staff check and doublecheck ingredient lists, walk me through what menu items don't have my allergen, and make sure everyone involved is aware of the allergy risk. They really go above and beyond. It means a lot. Five stars for Izzy forever.
