It’s clear to me that Jerry is no longer here. I asked for a little bit more apple butter and was told that there be an up charge. Very tacky. I probably won’t be back.

The interior had too much mechanical noise to sit there. Outside was fine per se, but one really loud person messed that experience up. My companion ordered a standard breakfast, which she gave a C- grade that is not commensurate with the high price. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and Collard Soup. The latter was in large pieces that included the midrib of the leaf and was only lightly cooked. It was in bowl so tiny that I found it hard to obtain a piece of Collard with the spoon that was provided without pushing another piece out of the bowl. Overall, a silly presentation of a novel way of cooking collards. What was sold as a Cuban sandwich was deficient in several ways: The bread was a baguette with extremely hard crust. There was about half as much meat as in a Gordo's Cuban. There was no cheese. The pickle was super thin and tasteless. Worst of all, the so-called Cuban was not pressed. I had my first Cuban in 1966 at the College Inn in Gainesville and since have eaten many. They have always been pressed. AI says a Cuban should be pressed. Cuban bread is softer than a baguette, so that it can be pressed. A menu should not mislead the customer to this extent.

After leaving the spa, I was starving. I walked next door to a spot I’d never noticed before. I was initially disappointed to know they had mostly cold food. However, I was directed to the bisque and the bbq sliders. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The food, atmosphere and service are all spectacular. I highly recommend.

Brock, our waiter took care of us as first time diners. Ritz crackers and pimento cheese is offered complementary. Smoky and the grits were by far our favorite dish. My wife loved her decaf mocha. We look forward to our return visit and trying some of the unique looking dishes they serve.

We’ve returned several times and this time I had The “TAB” with honeymoon style bacon and the Hoppin John Salad. The “TAB” was great but I’ll pass on the salad next time. It lacked spice and flavor.

The food is always good. The servers are a little slower then what we like, but they also seem to be spread out too far.

We ate inside this week because it’s been so hot. I highly recommend Jeri’s as I am regular customer. Seating inside for this senior citizen was very uncomfortable and it was really hard to hear our server as it’s quite noisy, with high ceilings, and I’m hearing aid user. I recommend seating outside for seniors. The chairs outside are a wee bit more comfortable.

I ordered the Farfalle pasta salad as one of my sides. I regret to inform you that it tastes like strong raw garlic and nothing else. In fact I could still taste the garlic through out the next day. If you are not an absolute garlic fiend, skip that dish.

The rest of our food was lovely and tasty. Our server was attentive and very patient with us old folks who were hearing impaired.

We will continue to frequent Jeri’s. It’s easy to park there and the outside patio dining is always fun.

We have been coming here every Thursday for breakfast for over a year. Was faced with a BS attitude when I asked why they are opening at 9 if the sign says 7. Safe to say his attitude lost our business.

This place won’t last if he’s in charge. Back to Lofty Pursuits.

I went the other weekend with a party of 6. I noticed the menu said automatic tip of 22% for parties of 6 or larger. I was fine with this assuming I got good service. However, my waitress was VERY ODD. First, she assumed everyone wanted water and when someone tried to speak out she walked away. Never got to order drinks. Very odd phrases were used like “hydration refill” and “colorful treats” to describe everything at the table. Additionally, she would not make eye contact making it very difficult to get her attention or order more than one thing at a time. When an item from a meal was missing she did not apologize or try to make it right. While a 22% tip would be okay given good service, it was very frustrating to pay when given less than the subpar service.

First time, and the food was delightful. I have told my daughter who goes to FSU, and she will try it out with friends.
