Forget about Kool Beanz Cafe and head to Island Wing Company Tallahassee instead.
We stood at the entrance for 15 minutes, waiting for someone to acknowledge us. The host kept appearing but said nothing, attending only to those with reservations.
A staff member eventually showed up, asked how many people were in our party, and then disappeared.
I waved to the host, mentioned that there were five of us, and she just smiled.
After 15 minutes of this madness, we lost our patience and decided to leave. We went to Island Wing Company Tallahassee and had an amazing evening, where we were treated exceptionally well. The great service helped us forget the awful experience we had due to the complete disregard from the staff at Kool Beanz Cafe.

The best way I can describe the vibe is laid back and chill with super fancy food. It's a fun clash!
We got the crab cakes, the duck confit, and flank steak with gorgonzola butter. All top notch.
We came with a group of 6 women on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately you can't make a reservation, but I was told on the phone that the earlier you come, the better you can avoid waiting times. We only had to wait 15 minutes because we agreed to sit on the terrace. The terrace wasn't particularly inviting, maybe it would have been nicer inside. We ordered a selection of starters and were not disappointed. My absolute favorite was the cauliflower. Two of us had fish (grouper?) which looked delicious. One had salmon and still raves about it today. My salad with strawberries was delicious. Everyone was happy, except for the steak, which was more reminiscent of shoe soles, but at least had delicious mashed potatoes and onion rings. The service was very nice, but not particularly attentive. During the entire time only two waitresses came by to ask if we wanted anything else and whatever it was wasn't brought the first or second time. I would still go there again because it is simply very difficult to find a restaurant in America that serves delicious food.
Lunch with a small group. Had peppered flank steak, which I can't seem to NOT order. I like the lunch portions. Everyone at our table got something different and everything was delicious.
Their menu is always changing and very creative. Here is butternut squash with mint and cucumber yogurt. They’ve expanded their outdoor area, all covered. I will say it’s super loud inside, so if you have anybody hard of hearing in your party, just be mindful of that.

Don't be put off by the building's exterior paint, which gives it a cantina look. Ignore all of that and dare yourself to be impressed.
Excellent execution of the plates and presentation, accompanied by on point flavors. Perfect meal sizes, not minute, not large. Great service.
As an appetizer, my wife and I shared the porkbelly with pickled onions and jalapeño peppers. Followed by entrées of pan-seared pepered cobia fillet over steamed asparagus and freshly-made mash potatoes and caramelized salmon with balsamic molasses over broccolini and a lemon white bean puree. We closed dinner with the sweet corn ice cram with pickled strawberries served between two layers of pastry cookies.
Why the four stars, you may ask? Well, for a five-star rating, everything must be on point; food, service, cutlery, plates, glassware and stemware, lighting, etc.
The Kool Beanz Cafe is a rough diamond with great potential to be THE place in Jacksonville. Food wise 5-stars, location and decor 3-stars. A five-star restaurant is a restaurant similar or equal to Le Jadinier in Miami or L'Atelier Miami.
