For the entire time my daughter was in elementary school we would visit this wonderful museum at least twice a month. It is so well done with great exhibits and ever-changing special exhibits that are amazing. The people who run this place take great care to make it one of the nicer small history museums you can ever visit.

Great detailed museum of Florida history. Get a Tallahassee lapel pin from the gift shop.

Nice attraction to visit while staying or stopping by Tallahassee, Florida or Florida State University. Admission to the museum was free, and if you visit the museum you get a ticket to park for free. Good variety of exhibits to see, such as fossils, Native American history, industrial revolution in America and many more. Definitely worth checking out, you can’t go wrong with free entertainment.

Good stop with the kids. There was too much to cover and read in the half hour we were there so we took lots of pictures.. which will be posted here as well. There is no charge to get in.

Given that this place is free to visit AND park in the garage next door (with token from museum), I can’t complain. The kiddos (all under 7) enjoyed doing the scavenger hunt, but probably didn’t pick up much of the history. There are lots of random things to see in here. This is a great spot to go during the heat of the day to stay cool. Drinks, even WATER, is not allowed inside, so chug before you enter. We were forced to leave our bottles at the desk and pick them up on the way out.

If you’re ever in Tallahassee this is a great way to spend half a day…or more. There is free parking on weekends in the garage next door. Admission is free but a donation is welcomed and suggested at $5. Displays start in prehistoric times and bring you up to near current times. The museum takes up most of the basement of the Department of State. A hidden gem.

It's a wonderful museum. I loved learning more about the state I know call home. I loved the village displays and all of the wonderful hidden nooks. My favorite two are the riverboat and Granny's attic. I definitely encourage people to visit!

Personally I loved the museum. My husband and I (A bi-racial couple with our son) decided to make a pit stop in Tallahassee because we love museums. The museum had so much to offer and plus it was free. I enjoyed it all the way until the end. They offered a special exhibition in the changing exhibit gallery. Yet again FREE to the public but there was a lady standing at the doorway reminding us not to take pictures or recordings. It was the journey of a west African slave. My issue is that it picked specific facts to push a specific narrative. I come to museums, libraries, historical monuments and landmarks to get the facts to create my own thoughts. If you walk back into the museum you can literally see the time line contradicting itself over and over again. Overall beautiful facility, lady at the front was extremely nice and helpful. The final exhibit was not the complete truth.

Our whole family had a wonderful time at this museum. There was so much much information and the exhibitions were top notch. The museum is large but not too large. It's probably more than what can be properly seen in a Day but you can see enough to truly enjoy the experience!
