I tried Nefetaris at the tallahassee veg out event and to be honest I thought the food tasted really good. Unfortunately as someone who saved up to be able to come to this event I can not justify spending $5 for one single cauliflower floret + crumbs. On top of that the women who served me dropped all the samosas in front of me then proceeded to serve me and the rest of the attendees the fallen samosa. I get that they needed to serve a lot of people but the amount of food for the money spent was insulting and hurtful to people who dont have a lot of money....Edit to reply: if the samosas did not touch the ground I do apologize. I was stating what I believed to see and it looked to me from my view they were scooped up and served. If I am wrong that's okay. I'm not here to destroy your reputation. Regardless what I was more upset about was the fact that I got exactly ONE floret of cauliflower for $5 plus a few very small crumbs of batter. That was totally unacceptable for me. No matter how good the quality there's no reason for such a small portion in my opinion.
Phillip Dog was delicious
I ate here with a colleague sometime in the last year; we both enjoyed the distinctive, flavorful food. Returning to a hotel near Nefetari's this week, I chose to have dinner at Nefetari's two nights in a row. The first night, I had the Honey Eggplant dish with tofu: savory, complex complex flavors that continued to delight my tastebuds . . . and I'm not a big fan of eggplant as a rule. The second night, I had the coconut curry with lamb, with sides of grilled veggies and basmati rice. Phenomenal!
6/2020 Update: they no longer maintain a restaurant since 2019. They now only do special events, venue rental, and catering. A real bummer but I can't blame them for wanting to slow down. It's just too bad!WOW! I can't say enough about this place. I bring out of town guests here often and go on special occasions as well. Nefetari's has a flair for Egypt and other places in Africa. You really get to savor tastes from Morocco to Ethiopia, even the Mediterranean. The decor is classy and well done. The service is phenomenal. I think this is one of the few restaurants that I've visited where the owner goes around and asks you how your meal was and if there was anything she could do. Once, she made something specifically to our liking. She genuinely loves to interact with guests and make them feel welcome. GREAT FOOD, GREAT FLAVORS. People do make reservations so make sure to check ahead. I've had so many things from the menu. The lamb nachos, samosas, and Thai spring rolls are great appetizers that won't disappoint. For entree I have had several dishes with red snapper, stew platter, coconut curry, zen teriyaki, and Moroccan fish. I have yet to be disappointed! We even had a couples group brunch here and reserved their special room. You've got to try their brunch, it will not disappoint.Oh, and don't forget their HOMEMADE CHEESECAKE!!! I'm usually not a dessert person but this thing is to die for!!! So decadent and light at the same time. It's hard to explain, you just have to try it. On one visit, the owner asked me to describe it to a new customer and I had to stand and give a compelling speech on this cheesecake. It's that good. Enough said. One note, the hours are a little funky so make sure you check before just heading over. Also, the concrete in lot on the right side needs work but it's worth the trip!
Their vegan mac and cheese is unmatched. Rich, delicious food and friendly staff. It's tucked away in a little side-street and looks kind of small from the outside, but is actually huge and ornate on the inside. Always loved dining here when I lived in Tallahassee, and I hope to eat here again during my next visit.
a preferred evening place. this place has a great feel to it.
Tallahassee Classic
I’m SO sad this place closed :( was my favorite restaurant in Tallahassee.
Great atmosphere. Been here twice, once for painting with a twist and lastly as a vendor for Black on Black Rhyme. The difference displays of African artifacts adds an aesthetic touch to their welcome.
Nice atmosphere food was good

I love the ambience and atmosphere. Very friendly and hospitable!
OMG, the Wild Mushroom Ravioli is divine; I added chicken. You have to try it for yourself. I also had a hibiscus/ginger drink that was very refreshing. I cannot wait to visit again.
Great vegan sampler experience. I wish they would do more pop up meals! I miss the great food and the elegant/comfortable atmosphere.
The atmosphere is amazing and the food is delicious!! Great service and good people!!
So sad to see this wonderful restaurant closed down. Their food was awesome. I am vegan and gluten-free and they were always able to satisfy our needs. We are thankful that they blessed us with the wonderful food for 6 years. They still have events at this location, in particular the Spoken Word program every Tuesday evenings wherein Limited food and beverage offerings are available! Also, Feel free to go on over to the other wonderful establishment called Soul vegetarian restaurant. They're completely vegan and have a weekend brunch also.
