This has been my favorite Chinese food place for over a year now and I've gotten my co-worker hooked. Me and my best friend go for lunch whenever she's in this side of town. The owner is wonderful and sweet. The food is really fresh and delicious. I've tried different things on the menu and nothing has disappointed yet.Wonderful atmosphere as well!
I think that we found where we want to get reasonably priced tasty Asian food. Everything was good to great and the sauces were light and not overly sweetened or thickened. Drawbacks were a lack of lack of descriptions on their menu, no beef and mixed vegetables, and no sauce came with the dumplings, but we're definitely ordering from here again.
Great food. Great lunch prices. Ample of parking spaces, conveniently located on East Tennessee Street. This restaurant is under the old sign name China Delight. Under new ownership the name is now Peony River. Takeout or Dine In.
They took such good care of us for a retirement lunch and we had. They were so nice and worked with us to make us as happy as possible. Not only were they very easy to work with, the food was excellent. Highly recommend.
I love this place. Some really good authentic Chinese food, and all the American-Chinese favorites too. It doesn't hurt that it's walking distance from my work, either! Try the home style tofu if you're veggie.
The food and service are fantastic. The location and lack of ac, not so much. We eat here often and it would be so much better if it were in a place with easier access. Ac would be nice too, it's hot in there.
got the spicy beef noodle soup for lunch - it was heavenly and perfectly spicy. there were huge pieces of garlic and entire szechuan peppercorns in the broth…… so so yummy. plus it was a huge serving for ~$11. i had to take the rest home.the hostess was very friendly and attentive. love the decor in here, especially the big fish tank when you walk in. the menu design is very cute and well organized. my man had the lunch special general tso’s chicken - huge portion for the price (~$8) and came with rice and hot and sour soup. i can’t wait to come back and try more stuff on the menu.
If I can give less than a star I would gladly be the one to award this place with less than one star!!!I am choked how this place is functioning! Where the DOH from this filth? The moment you enter the dining room, you can’t help not to see the carpet, the floor and the ceiling!! Filth!!!The worse Chinese food I ever had in my life.Food is not fresh, not hot and to add salt to injury the food is cooked with old oil!! WHAT!! Where are we???Have a look at the pictures and make up your mind. The hostess is not helpful at all. Subpar service.
Great service - and the Mapo Tofu had excellent flavor and real deal má là spice! Will definitely try to come back here - pretty affordable prices. Don't get fooled if you walk in and it's empty! Peony is a real treat.
It was confusing to find since the sign outside the restaurant says China something, not Peony River. The woman at the front was also the waitress. It took a very long time to take our orders and receive our food. Some folks walked out due to no service. I asked if they made homemade mustard for egg rolls but they only had packets, which I found weird for a sit down restaurant. Therefore I ordered hot sour soup instead. Soup took 25 minutes to arrive, we were just about to give up and leave. Soup was kind of bland, not spicy and luke warm, not hot. The little wontons served o a plate were stale. Food arrived, which was very plentiful. I had orange chicken, my first bite was from outside of plate and it was cold, the second bite from inside the plate was hot, very weird. It was not at all spicy or served with the chili peppers. DH had hunan chicken which was also plentiful but not spicy. I really wanted some sake, but they do not serve beer or wine and they only have canned soft drinks.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. At first we were confused, because the sign outside says China Delight. Inside is a cozy sit down place, the staff was very prompt and helpful. We ordered entrees from the lunch menu with hot & sour soup. It was very tasty and the portions were very generous! I had the Shredded pork with (it comes with jalapeno) peppers. It was spicy and flavorful, but not overly hot. My husband ordered the Mongolian Beef (he asked them to spice it up a bit) with egg fried rice. His was mild but tasty, and the fried rice was very good. All in all, it was a pleasant surprise!
This place was amazing, our food was delicious and massive all the while being great price. I need to come here more, 5 stars does not do this justice!Perfect hidden gem, I need to come here more.
This place customer service sucks. I did enjoy the rice and orange chicken. The lo mein was mushy and had not flavor, pot stickers hard and over cooked. I had food to take out and the server because we ate in tried to force me to use the extremely small square foam to go tray. I would’ve need over ten to pack my food. I asked her if I could have the containers as if I purchased Togo since this was all she had, she told me the kitchen refused due to me eating in the restaurant. I was a paying customer spending over $50 dollars on food I didn’t enjoy and now I have to take it and split it in this small satiate foam Togo. I would never recommend this place. They’re just there for the money and honestly don’t care for their customers.
I decided to try something new and was pleasantly surprised. I came in for lunch at 1 and it was completely empty. There were only a couple of other people who came in while I was there. The lunch special is amazing! You pay $8.99 before taxes for an entree, rice of your choice, soup of your choice, and two sides. I decided on the General Tso’s chicken, white rice, egg drop soup, egg roll, and pan fried dumplings. The portion alone was worth the money but the taste of it all made it worth it even more. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the egg drop soup but will try the hot and sour sauce soup next time to see if I prefer that one. Great place to head for lunch! I had leftovers so I will probably just go with the regular lunch next time!
Walked in around 1pm on Monday 10-4-21 for lunch. Very very reasonable pricing. The lunch portion might as well be a dinner portion. The hot and sour soup was absolutely amazing and a great light start to the meal. Pan-fried dumplings, egg fried rice, and Mongolian Beef is what I ordered and could not have been happier. Tell them if you want it spicy otherwise its very tame to the tongue but full of flavor. Had a great music selection playing as well. 20 out of 10 stars, highly recommend
