Incredible food, I had a really nice time for my anniversary. We went all out and got apps, wine, desert—it all tasted fantastic. The service was pretty mediocre, our waiter forgot about our table a few times. Additionally, it must be said the interior design of this restaurant is embarrassing for the caliber of food we're getting. It felt like a dressed up TGI Fridays. Complete mess, no vibes at all! I'm new to fine dining in Tallahassee so I'm curious to see how other restaurants compare in that dept, my expectations aren't high. But what matters (food) is exceptional and for that reason alone I'll be back.

Our experience was fantastic. We were greeted very warmly. Our waitress, Marty, was so engaging. Helpful and attentive without rushing us at all. A nice pace - no food arriving while we were still enjoying the previous course. Drinks and food were great. The coffee caramel creme brulee was amazing.

We were seated at a tiny table next to the bathroom and the waiter’s station, I was constantly being bumped by the staff as they hurried back and forth. The predominant flavor of the mussels and the braising liquid they were served in was salt, if there was any wine , garlic, and herbs they were totally lost under the salinity. My main course was the New York strip steak. The steak itself seemed to be of decent quality but again the salt was so excessive as to mask any other flavor. My wife was served fried oysters which arrived barely warm, and a filet minion cooked as ordered, however the compound butter on top of the meat was cold and unmelted. Both the filet and strip were supposed to be served with a wine reduction sauce, again the only discernible flavor was salt. We decided not to risk dessert. We’ve had many fine relaxing meals at Sage before, this time too many problems to consider going back any time soon.

Conveniently located just north off I-10 for thru travelers ‘on a mission’. I was optimistic for a good experience when smelling the herbed woodsmoke upon transiting the parking lot. A short but efficient menu which covered the bases. We split the blue crab cake appetizer. I paired it with a slightly oaked French chardonnay. Perfect. The cakes were pleasantly dense with meat and skimpy on the breading: JUST THE WAY WE LIKE THEM! I had the pork chop medium. Cooked to perfection and now I knew what that woodsmoke was all about. It was paired with a French Bordeaux blend. My son got the shrimp and scallops on a hominy corn base. I sampled a scallop: very good in an interesting brown sauce. My son is a ‘shrimp snob’. I got none. Verdict rendered. A convenient and GREAT place to eat when i (or just passing through) Tallahassee. I no longer have to despair the closing of Cypress. I have ‘met’ its match!

The service and atmosphere were great. The fish was thin, mushy and had a thick layer of wet mushy breading. The green vegetables were oily. The kettle chips were not good. The drink was good.

Wife made reservations for my birthday for 8 on Tuesday July 9th. Which means sit at the bar area. Fine with that. We are sat in a nice corner table. Brent came over and we ordered. After that, we were ignored. A couple came in 20 minutes after us and sat nearby. They asked Brent why they didn’t get their usual table. Brent proceeded to say as he’s standing 5 feet away from us, “ I had you there and some lady called about her husband’s birthday and the next thing I knew it was changed.” Ok. Whatever. Someone else brought our appetizers and we then ordered another round of drinks. Much later, Brent came by and said “Sorry for taking so long on the drinks.” He had been watching a video on a customers phone while we waited. Brent had two other tables and he only came back to our table because the other bartender (Sean who did a fantastic job working) told him we were unhappy. He then said “ I’m sorry you feel that way. I had some demanding tables.” He never one time ever said he was sorry for the terrible service we received. Acted like I was making things up. My wife and I are both former servers. If i could have talked my wife into it, I would have left $1 for Brent. She left $35 on a $185 tab because that’s who she is. It appears if you are not a regular, don’t expect good service in the bar area. You have to know some to get good service.

We normally go 5 or 6 times a year.
We will NEVER go back. Brent is lazy and does not have to be accountable. It the owners think this is not true, check the tape. Brent was awful and unapologetic. Check the cameras.

Have a nice day.

It was the best place to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary! We both had the pork chop, and it was the best we have ever eaten! Kudos to the Chef‼️ The sticky toffee cake was killer for dessert! As well as the buttercream ice cream, and the habanero mango sorbet!
Ed and Marti were an exemplary host and server! We look forward to our next meal there! Thank you, Sage for a fabulous evening❣️

Such a cozy ambiance with a creative and delicious menu :-) Had a fantastic salmon tonight with a flavorful sauce over a blend of fresh veggies that I might not have thought to combine but which was perfect. We're lucky to have a little place like this that has something for every palate and is special without being stuffy.

The cocktails are out of this world. The food selection is limited but exquisite. This is definitely one of the top 10 places in Tallahassee. If you are into good food, this is a must visit place.
