Freshest seafood in Tallahassee, with great prices. Lots of options, even great options in the frozen section. Boudin- pork or crayfish. YUM!

Got raw oysters here. Staff asked me FL, TX, or VA. I replied, FL please! From which part of FL? Oh somewhere south of here... my expectations dropped. However, after shucking, they tasted really good.

Southern seafood is the best market in the Tallahassee area. I've been a customer for many years and have had the best seafood and customer service you could ask for. Im a huge fan of the sushi grade tuna. I probably eat more than I should but I'm hooked just lithe fish was when it was caught. It always feels like you are family when you walk through the door. Thanks Southern seafood for the great service you've provided for Tallahassee.

Southern seafood is the most amazing place in Tallahassee for fresh right out of the ocean seafood. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I've been going there for 4 years now since being here I always get greeted by name when I walk through the door. The owner always makes sure he has the best quality seafood, soups, and gumbo (he personally makes) available at all times. The added bonus is it's always stocked with any and all seasonings and supplies needed to cook anything you're planning on cooking!!!

I was given this fish with all its fins still on after I had already paid. I asked the server if they could remove the fins, and she checked with another staff member. Unfortunately, his response was that they don’t offer that service.

I’m really disappointed with the service here. I recently switched from the seafood market on Capital Circle to this one because it’s closer to home. But at the previous market, they always cleaned the fish properly and removed the fins without issue.

This will be my last time shopping here.

Thank you for the owner’s reply and the offer—I do appreciate the gesture. But I want to clarify what actually happened, because the explanation given was not accurate.

When I first asked for the fins to be removed, the male associate immediately said, “We don’t cut fins off.” I asked again and mentioned that another seafood market always does it, but he repeated, “We don’t do that.” The female associate stood next to him the whole time. So this wasn’t a misunderstanding—he never thought I was asking to remove bones.

Also, just to be clear—who buys a fish known for its bones and then asks to have all the bones removed? That wouldn’t make sense.

I’m not asking for anything and I won’t be picking up the offer. I’m only replying because the explanation wasn’t honest about what really happened. It’s important to represent customer interactions truthfully—that’s the only reason I updated this review.

Southern seafood is a Tallahassee establishment. The family that owns the business are wonderful human beings and pillars in the community. We are lucky to have a place like southern seafood in Tallahassee. We wouldn’t buy seafood anywhere else. What a great place.

I have been to other markets, hands down southern seafood is by far the best,
. Now, if they could have the nail lady at spears seafood to join the team.
It couldn't be a better market
