This restaurant was our favorite for years, we used to recommend it to everyone. Now the restaurant has become just a shadow of what it was. The amount you pay to eat there should be enough for them to offer better quality food and hire servers who actually know how to serve.... the worst part is definitely the service.... on several trips now we have had very few to 1 drink refill, the server has also been incredibly difficult to speak with, empty plates build up fast due to the server rarely stopping by the table.... for what is paid to eat here, its jist not worth it anymore.... we jave not been back in several months and do not intend on going back again. It's sad because we used to enjoy eating and listening to K pop there but I guess all good things come to an end.

Amazing service and food, love. Go if you LOVE to eat.
Romeo was our server and we got 1 drink refill from 1 check in we had to set up our own grill (paper, butter, turn it on) turn on our own pots, which was not a huge deal since we had been their before but I had to ask another server for the little drink you get at the end and that was the final straw.
I don’t know if it’s because we are younger but he treated the family behind us so much better literally prioritizing them and checked on them multiple times but he looked at us and walked past us without saying anything. then He walked past us with OUR card to the tables behind us and give them their wine.
It’s so disappointing when you know a server could be good and you watch them treat other tables better, but they treat you poorly because of how you look.

Weird that they still have Volcano on their sign. Did they have to change names quickly due to bad reviews and didn't have time to order new signs? It was also odd that they had signs about the conveyor belt but it apparently wasn't working or they stopped using it. The herbal broth was rather disappointing with very little flavor but the rest of the food was pretty good. I really liked the fish and lobster balls.

Our fav korean BBQ place (Chow Wan) is temporarily closed for renovations. So we found this place instead on a whim. It's AYCE korean bbq. This place has hot pot instead of the sushi like we're used to. . $28.99 pp for hot pot or korean bbq. If you want both, $32.99 pp. These are weekend prices. Meat, veggies, sauces, desserts, and salads, all had their own bar that you help yourself to. Then you bring it back to your table to cook it. Kimchi sucked. Meat was good quality. Basic desserts. Tons of veggies and other items for your hot pot to pick from. Sauce bar was awesome. I ate a baby octopus 🐙. Lol

Not as much food to offer as other Korean BBQs I've been to. the service was good, but one waitress had a lot to handle by herself so our table had plates build up. The flavors were bland and not many sauce options. overall it was all meh. cute little place, but not the best place to go. Some of the meat was impossible to bite through even when only cooked medium.

Edit 1/2/25: Update to my review as management is new and I guess they did a name change from Volcano to Lao Jia so there have been some changes. Service is still fantastic and I still enjoy coming here, but of course there are some things I noticed from being a long time customer since soft opening. Please bring back the taro root & pork dumplings. I was informed by my server the taro root wasn’t a favorite of management, so that is why it was taken off? I understand the yogurt drinks after the meal need to be asked for and I understand from a standpoint of someone not interested in them, but for those of us that enjoy it, a suggestion would be to have the servers ask at the end of the meal before the check.
Original Review: I absolutely adore this place. Very worried that during the pandemic this wouldn’t survive but I’m so happy to see the changes since the grand opening. I’ve been going almost every month since they opened and it has always been a fantastic experience. Yes, the price is on the higher side but it’s all you can eat and they aren’t rushing you out the door. It’s quality food and I have never been sick eating here. Considering it’s cooking your own food, it’s probably on you if you get sick to be honest.
Thank you Volcano Hot Pot for coming to Tallahassee, you added something new and enjoyable here!

Unfortunately I wish I could say I had a pleasant experience at this establishment. The environment was filthy and there were not enough tongs per food items which resulted in the unfortunate cross use of tongs. This could potentially be dangerous as I have a seafood allergy and witnessed a patron using seafood tongs for vegetables. When I brought this up to my server and management they were very rude and dismissive. Additionally, I witnessed management treating staff EXTREMELY unpleasantly. Overall not worth the money and hassle. Buyer beware if you value sanitation and the supporting pleasant folks.

My husband and I have been frequent diners since opening (there used to be a conveyor belt that worked and everything). Tonight, our server Sandy informed us that as of a few weeks ago, the yogurt drink has been removed from the experience. We would like those to return, as it's the perfect end to the meal! Please consider bringing these back so we can continue enjoying our time at your restaurant!!!!

For restaurants like these google should really let you put either 0 stars or negative stars. For starters is not the staff fault for this horrible experience. Our waitress was actually helpful and sincerely apologetic for our experience. We been to many hot pots and by far this place has been hand down the worst experience. The actual base had no flavor whatsoever and what makes matters worst they didn’t have any herbs to make the base taste any better. They ran out of most herbs and unlike other hot spot we been to there wasn’t much options. There was a wall template of over 30 different herbs and veggies to add to the soup however that did not coincide with what actual products were available.
Now on to the lack of air quality in this place. The minute you walk in you feel like your gonna be out of breathe. Extremely dense air and all you smell is the burning cooking air form the bbq. Again been to many other hot pot bbq restaurants and they all have good air extraction however not here. Please do yourself a favor stay away from this establishment or use your money to feed the needy in the streets. At least that way someone can benefit from your generosity because this place is going to disappoint you.
