I recently visited 22nd Street Coffee Shop and was hoping to become a regular, but unfortunately, my experience left me pretty disappointed.
I ordered a simple bagel with egg, cheese, and bacon. According to the menu on the wall, that should have totaled about $8.75 before tax: the bagel was $4, egg $2, bacon $2, and cheese $0.75. However, they charged me $12 for a “breakfast sandwich” plus an extra $1 for bacon. When I pointed out the price difference, they told me they have to charge the full sandwich price regardless, and they might only change to a “build-your-own” pricing in a few weeks.
To add to this, they tacked on a 3.99% credit card fee, even though they use the Square system, which based on their website only charges 2.6% plus a small fixed fee .15 cents . It felt like they were just pocketing the difference.
I’ve driven past this place for years and noticed it’s often empty. Now I understand why. The inside looks nice, and I really wanted to like it, but with inconsistent pricing and extra charges that aren’t transparent, the customer service just doesn’t feel fair. Maybe their coffee is good, and that’s why they get some positive reviews, but overcharging people isn’t a great way to do business. I hope they improve.

$6.50 for a small plain latte 😳. To add insult to injury a “tax” of $0.75 (>11%). I did not see a sign but I assume that’s an additional credit card fee added in?
Great place for breakfast or lunch. I recommend the cuban breakfast sandwich & frozen cafe con leche.

Stopped by today and had an AMAZING drink. The Smores cold brew and it was a 10/10. I’ll be back for that! Also had their breakfast sandwich, which was amazing too. Inside is super cute, wish I would have brought my computer to do some work here. Only suggestion is to maybe have some music playing (quietly) on the background. Cute book nook area, and lots of art/craft items for sale. It was very quiet inside, and some music playing quietly would help with that sort of awkward silence. That would be my biggest suggestion. I’ll for sure be back though, music or not. 😁

I have never been there but I order my coffee from them online, it is the best coffee I have ever tasted!!
This place has so much potential and has been a lovely hidden gem to find near our new home. I do love their coffee and that they roast their beans in house. Their walls want to educate you on coffee and art which I appreciate. It would be a great field trip spot for a business class (the teacher in me always thinks of these things).
The food is great. Sadly the selection was so limited on a Friday morning. The pastries were almost cleaned out by 9:45.
Relatively quiet place for coffee and working…except for your random Joe who is unaware of the space and vibe and walking around with headphones talking loud as hell about selling who knows what.
Large coffee shop with books and games and ample seating. Would recommend it if in the area.

The drinks are good but boldly overpriced. $7 for an iced tea. I think a large cafe con leche is also $7
The space itself is very nice.
This place would get a lot more foot traffic if the menu wasn’t so far out of the neighborhoods price range, especially when there are small hole in the wall spots nearby that don’t charge double for a cafe con leche
Amazing. Everyone was so sweet. And the iced caramel was the best I've had in a while!
Everything is delicious! I had the honey lavender latter and it was amazing! Awesome spot.
Adorable coffee spot. Such a chill environment and very welcoming. I had a raspberry cheesecake cold brew that was absolutely delicious, and a raspberry turkey sandwich sooo good.
the best coffee in tampa!!
