Acropolis Greek Taverna - New Tampa

The prices were above average, food ok not great. We felt very rushed with main course arriving just after appetizer. My daughter in law ordered a martini costing $15 which is expensive. Waiter bought to go boxes before we finished our dinner. The most upsetting was the check which was $9 more if you don't pay cash, that's a rip off and won't go back and don't recommend the place to anyone.

It was my first time. It was Valentine's Day and very busy but my overall experience was good. My food came out b4 my date's and it had something on it I asked to be excluded so they took it back. My date's food then came shortly after and it was cold so they took that back. Food finally came correctly and all was well. Other than that hiccup, it was a nice restaurant, good atmosphere and great live music.

Always a great spot for Greek. Portions are large, especially the salads. I am a big eater and I've never been able to finish one of their salads! Service is good too and they are open later than most restaurants in the area, which is a plus for us.

We were disappointed that the music, dancing and napkin throwing did not occur until 10 pm. Our waiter was friendly; our food came promptly. The food was good. The atmosphere was great in that we were able to talk among ourselves.

The atmosphere is cafeteria like. To add to the cafeteria like atmosphere they served the gyro platter in a metal tray on top of a paper liner. This was ridiculous. I ate my food with a knife and fork which was a bad idea. The paper ripped and attached to the pita making eating an annoying experience. Our server was very nice and attentive. I am extremely annoyed that there was a surprise when I paid the bill - cash price and credit card price. As a result screw me once shame on you screw me twice shame on me. Hence, the $3 charge cost the restaurant going forward. I will never return. The last complaint I have is the hovering while I pay the bill. The hand held device is designed to intimate you
into giving a larger tip. FYI it doesn’t work on me. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend to friends and family. Aggravation and going out to eat is not a good plan.

Note to self:
Not going to this location on a Thursday around 4pm again. I got put on hold on the phone for 10 minutes and when going to the restaurant there was no one being served and it was empty except a table of 4 outside who already had their food. Watched them watch the phone ring and let it go to voicemail. I ended up ordering the Ouzo mussels online they are my cousins and I favorite! Walked in and the staff was just goofing off, I don’t mind it but, I literally only ordered one thing and being in the food industry before it literally doesn’t require much effort to answer the phone and put an order in. This time around the mussels were absolutely bare minimum. I didn’t mention anything about being put on hold on the phone or make any comment about the events that occurred so that my food wouldn’t be messed up or toyed with. However, my Ouzo mussels ended up being below bare minimum and I am highly disappointed. We got little to no sauce, no cheese, no parsley or the seasonings they usually put. They were extremely dry and over cooked.

I’m only going to be ordering and coming to this location when the Filipina server is there and I don’t know if it’s the same cook everyday and they were extremely tired or maybe the table of 4 outside ordered an enormous amount of food to where our mussels couldn’t be made correctly regardless the mussels are $19.00. Regardless, I’ve seen this place way busier. I love this place and recommend it to my friends all the time especially for dine in but, won’t be recommending it on a Thursday evening and especially take out. And I should’ve checked the box before leaving however, this is the first time this has happened and I’ve ordered take out before with no problems. The staff were still nice, it’s just the lack of attentiveness & effort.

I ordered lampchops substitute potatoes for rice. I picked up through takeout and no one could seemed to find my order then when I finally came out 15 mins later it was over cooked . Rice was mushy and chops were dry and tough. I have been to the acropolis in ybor many times and have never experienced the food like this. I was greatly disappointed

We had an amazing experience here on Friday Sept 13. We arrived a little later than our reservation but they accommodated us with no problem. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered to gyro platters and it came with salad that was so big I almost got full just off of that. Our food also came with yummy Greek fries. I had so much food left over I was able to take it to work the next day. I use to come here all the time when I was younger so I'm glad our experience was just as good as it use to be. We will be back!
