Went on Thanksgiving evening at 6:30. Server brought both salads and entrées at the same time. Then acted surprised that we wanted time to eat our salads first. When they brought our entrées back they had obviously been sitting the whole time and were lukewarm. Overall a very poor experience.
I was very excited about having dinner here but unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Out waitreee was friendly and started out strong. We had the bread service which was delicious and two of us had a glass of Pinot Grigio. When our entrees arrived is when the dinner took a turn. I ordered one of the specials and it was served burnt. When I sent it backed I watched the reaction of the staff as it is an open kitchen and they knew they served me a burnt piece of fish. For an Italian restaurant the entire kitchen staff is Hispanic. No quality control prior to things leaving the kitchen and the manager who we saw walking around all night never did a table touch with us and many of the tables that night. With this lack of care and service they will not be open for much longer. Do not recommend.
We had a party of 9 And the private room Worked great for us. Quiet And good service. It does seem however that the menu has shrunk with not as Many choices. Especially the pastasAnd Now has expensive steak and pork entrees. The pasta dish I had with the fennel Sausage was not very good at all. I have ordered it for several years. This one was not good. Our server however was excellent. Attentive and pleasant
Always enjoy Ava, terrific food, the servers are always so nice (thanks Charissa), prompt and helpful...just a very friendly chill place...the owner, Michael Stewart, always makes a point to say hello if he in there and make sure all is well; same as the GM Donald. A fantastic neighborhood spot my wife and I love! Excited about Ava's sister restaurant The Landon which getting ready to open soon too across the street (the old 717). Looks amazing!!
I hosted five out-of-state clients at Ava last night in the private dining room and it was a smash hit. Everything from the cocktails to the cannoli was spot-on. They loved the place and left with fond memories of Tampa hospitality. Thanks for a great night!
Great night! I was sad to see the bucatini off the menu, but the ragu pasta was fantastic. A big thank-you to our server (she was awesome!) for helping make a quick introduction to Joe Maddon, who happened to be dining there. My friend was visiting from Chicago and grew up a huge Cubs fan, so meeting Joe was an absolute dream, Joe was incredibly kind and gracious. Thank you to everyone, it was a memorable night!
The food was amazing, friendly, and fast service. Will definitely will come back next time in tampa
The food was very good and service was great. Had the Lamb duo and was cooked well at medium rare. The salmon was very good and good sized portion.
Emmett was a wonderful server! Food was great and the atmosphere was perfect! Nice little date night
Vegan diner here with a non-vegan partner. We LOVE Ava. Diverse and well-rounded menu, consistently delicious food, great portion to price ratio, unique signature drinks with a full-service bar. The vegan options are top tier and the staff is always very accommodating and knowledgeable. I usually can't pry myself from the Chunk Steak.. it's unbelievable! The first time I had it, I nearly cried (yes I'm dramatic). It pulls apart like tender, juicy steak and melts in your mouth. My non-veg friends are always impressed when I have them try and a few have even ordered it themselves. Ava's atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. Elegant and simple furnishings, warm lighting, soft music, booths and tables, patio seating, beautiful bar, and the large pizza oven ties it all together to make for a wonderful experience for any occasion. We do everything from date nights at Ava to bringing every friend that comes to visit us to catch up over dinner. Could not recommend Ava enough!

I was expecting better food, better service considering all the reviews. However I was a bit disappointed, the food was average, as was service and ambience. Overall, overrated.
Our large party all enjoyed their meals. I had the filet - absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Ambiance is beautiful.
All in all, it was OK. Ordered the bread tray as an appetizer and did not like it at all. It tasted more like a fried churro on the outside. Not as described on the menu. Entrees were pretty good. Can't say we were wowed by the meal.
The pasta was amazing!! The drinks were equally as good. The service did not wow me. They were not the friendliest until the checks were about to come out. The portion sizes were not consistent. My friend and I both got the short rib ragu, but she was portioned significantly more than me. Other than that, I really enjoyed Ava! I would come back.
The staff at this restaurant was very informative and professional. We reserved a private room which was phenomenal! It was so nice to be able to enjoy great food and have a atmosphere where we could hear each other in conversation. Highly recommend, and thank you again for everyone who made our visit so pleasant.
