Got the wife's phone here...we just visited their stand at the St Pete Morning Market today. We lived 5 miles from the border and I have eaten my share of home made & restaurant tamales...and to be honest...I too thought $10 was a little pricey for tamales, but I came back 10 minutes later to tell them these were the best period! So I got the pork...its not just about the huge tamale full of succulent pork married to sweet corn, it's the creamy black beans...the fresh pico de gallo...the Chile sauce...and that wonderful sweet & sour shredded carrot salad! This wasn't just some tamale stand...it was the best one.
Hands down the best tamale I've ever had...thank you
Great Mexican food! I had the steak burrito it was off the chain! Best I've had in a long time. Everything was very fresh and home made! Friendly people and the Atmosphere was homey. I will definitely be back!
Todo muy rico !! y Gran variedad de platillos típicos, excelente atencií³n !!
The food was very authentic. Will go again
Ive been coming and enjoying their food since they began advertising through vendor markets all over Tampa. I'm from Mexico and I know what authentic Mexican food truly is and this restaurant takes me back home. To the 1 star reviews from others comparing it to Taco Bell, you have no idea what you're talking about. Try it for yourself. It's amazing.
Awesome fresh food, especially the tamales and the carrot salad. The tortilla chips take a little getting used to (much thicker than "regular" store bought), but they're great! The restaurant is kept immaculately clean. Very impressed and can't wait to go back!
We just had our first (of what will be many) meals here. It was so amazingly fresh and delicious (we had tacos and quesadillas and chili relleno, kids and adults all loved everything) and they are so nice too! We will definitely be back!
Great food. Tamales are very tasty and everyone is so friendly. A little hiccup with Google taking us to the wrong plaza, but the place was next door.
This place is amazing!! Every time we go, we try something new, and there has not been one thing we haven't liked. The portions are huge!! The girls who work there are so incredibly wonderful as well. You can definitely tell the food is made with love which makes it even better. I can't say enough good things!!
Restaurantji Recommends
Possibly the best food I've had in a very long time. Great people, too! Will definitely return and recommend. Just wish they sold the tamales by the dozen. ♡
I don't know how this restaurant for 4 stars cause their food has no flavor and their meat is dry. There expensive for the portions they give you. $10 for a burrito with meat and cheese and tasted absolutely gross. Their tacos were dry but decent flavor. Highly upset cause it came out to$20! I've had better burrito from taco Bell!
My sister in law had a tamale at the farmers market and thought it was delicious. I decided to go to the restaurant and order some food to go. The woman was really friendly and helpful when I had some questions about the menu. The food ended up being mediocre, nothing stood out. I have had better and more flavorful Mexican food elsewhere at much more reasonable prices. $2.50 for a tiny guacamole side is way too much. $10 for the tamale combo was also too much. Other places like Loli's or Don Taco have better tasting tamale and tacos for a fair price. I would really want to give it two stars but the staff was very friendly so I gave it three stars.
I remember the first time I had Azteca Rojo at the Hyde Park Farmer's Market and being super impressed with their tamales so I knew I had to try their restaurant now that it's open on Memorial Highway.
