The music was way too loud for a Wednesday night, especially when there were only 10 customers in there! Food was OK but pricey. Menu was very meat heavy. I eat fish but no meat and the choices were limited. Women's bathroom was filthy :-(
Hidden gem...I'm not sure why it took me so long to try barter house. Everything was top notch!
We had an amazing dinner - described as American with a flair, felt like a mix between North Carolina and NOLA - every single dish better than the one before. We tried all the appetizers and they were spectacular - try the shishito peppers, the cornbread, and the clams if you HAVE to choose but they're all worth it. For dinner everyone chose something different but the gnocchi and oxtail was the clear winner - the fried chicken was crispy and on point, the farmers steak was out of this world. The crab cake croissant was also perfection.l with the tomato sauce acting like a gazpacho. Hands down the best restaurant in Ybor City. Our team visited Colombia, the Crafting place, Ulele, Copper - a real treat to see so many great places within feet of each other!
They have this one German manager or assistant manager, he really makes you feel welcome. The right amount of check-ins, and interactions. Hands down the best I've been treated in a while.
I would definitely return to Barterhouse. The service was outstanding and the food amazing!
The manager was great, along with our server. They recently changed their menu, so what's online isn't reflected of that yet. My steak was cooked perfectly, and our drinks were very good. We will be back
My fault for not taking a good look at the menu, but the food is very odd and as the waitress put it when I asked her how she would describe it, “it's all over the place “. In my opinion it was odd combination and very unusual pairings of ingredients. For instance... bacon-wrapped dates? Good for the very adventurous diner. The atmosphere was good and the service was good. Location was great... near the heart of Ybor.
The Christmas pop up was the reason for our visit and we thought we'd have dinner while we were there. The atmosphere was fun and the cocktails were good but I was surprised at the food choices. My wife needs to eat Gluten Free, not because she chooses to, but because she needs to for medical reasons. There is not a gluten free menu and no gluten free options on the current menu. When we inquired with the bartender his answer was "We don't have gluten free and the chef isn't going to change anything from the menu or do anything special." Wow! I knew at that comment that there would be no reason to ever come back. However, my wife ordered the catch of the day for $45 and ate the 4oz piece of fish and didn't touch anything else on the plate. A total waste of money. I was disappointed and felt like what started out to be a great evening out was an overall let down.
Dietary restrictions: No gluten free options and they are not willing to adjust dishes for food sensitivities.

The Christmas pop up was why we visited and we will definitely be back! The food selection changes but whatever you pick will be good. Gave a 4 star for service because our first server was not good but apparently was sent home and replaced by an excellent one. The bar attached has a different menu with more options.

If you want to pay $35 for a single ravioli and half a handful of plantains, then this place's incredibly overpriced hipster menu is for you! :)
Staff were friendly at least.

We had a reservation; took us 25 min to be seen by a server; we ordered a bottle of cab and we were brought a Malbec after 30 min of sitting and waiting around. Multiple tables near us were having similar issues with lack of service and taking too long. For a place to charge such high prices for the food and cocktails, you’d expect the service to match the high prices. That was unfortunately not the case. Also the “blitzen inn” left much to be desired. 3 specialty cocktails that were extremely over priced, and the decor was lackluster and lazy. Overall an extremely disappointing experience. The manager was very kind, however; it was not his fault. Nothing could’ve saved our experience unfortunately. Save your money and go elsewhere in a much less sketchy area of town.

I was visiting out of town with a few friends of mine on Saturday and we decided to stop by this restaurant. Our waitress was very polite and she always made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and we will definitely be back!
