We made a 6:45 reservation and arrived a bit early. No one greeted us or even looked in our direction. We waited at the door and the smell was off putting. There were maybe 5 people seated, when we couldn't get anyone staff wise to even make eye contact we left. I messaged the restaurant privately to say there was an issue but no response. I didn't want to leave a poor review but it seems based on the others they aren't consistent. Hopefully this helps them improve so we can try in the future.

It smelled pretty bad when we walked in, like sewage. For a NYE it was extremely quiet and awkward. Felt like everyone was forced to be there. Limited menu and half of it was not even available to order because they were out. Took 30 mins to get drinks and they were not even full/busy. I am not the one to ever write a review, but I was there before and it was so good- lively, fun, food was great, service was great so it was really disappointing to see what has become last night

Loved the Christmas themed place. Limited menu but good options. Good tasty drinks. Service was a little slow, seemed understaffed but we were not in a hurry.

We love the classic Ybor ambiance with a fresh twist! The drink menu was unique and super luscious! I had a perfect steak and the sweet potato pie was scrumptious. Our server was excellent and the pastry chef came to our table to talk about the dessert! The Christmas decorations wete fabulous 👌. Definitely will be goimg back

Barterhouse is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining out can still feel special. From the moment you walk in, the space strikes a perfect balance between refinement and warmth—elegant without ever feeling stiff, confident without being pretentious.

The food is where Barterhouse truly shines. Every dish feels intentional, deeply considered, and executed with precision. Ingredients are treated with respect, flavors are bold yet balanced, and nothing on the plate feels unnecessary. Whether it’s a perfectly cooked cut of meat, an impeccably seasoned side, or a subtle sauce that quietly steals the show, the kitchen demonstrates an understanding of restraint and depth that’s rare to find.

The beverage program deserves equal praise. Cocktails are thoughtfully composed, nuanced, and tailored to complement the menu rather than compete with it. The wine and spirits selections are curated with care, offering both familiar comforts and exciting discoveries.

That was the worst service I've ever received in my entire life. The food was fine, but definitely not worth the price. My waitress was absolutely awful, got our drink order, got our food order and never again. It was insane. I felt like I was in a fever dream with the amount she walked past our table and never checked in, not once. We payed $70-80 for the worst service I've ever gotten in my life.

It was very cute and food was excellent but out service was sub par unfortunately. We started at the bar and the first bartender (male) was not the greatest but the female was amazing and I regret getting our table we reserved vs staying at bar with her.

Nothing like they show online. They were out of almost everything including just a Pinot Grigio. The shrimp and grits were horrible, no grits at all. The server handed us a hand written list when we asked for just a red blend wine, the list had only one so she definitely could have just said that. The drinks looked nothing like they do online. So expensive for such a crappy experience and food. Never again.

Genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The server actively avoided coming to our table throughout our meal. She stated they were out of multiple dishes while others received them after we were finished as well as a side they were “out of” being included with a meal we ordered. They ran out of a meal that we ordered, and instead of informing us and asking what we would like instead they substituted our meal for something else. She gave us the dessert descriptions by handing us her pad with them written down. We waited 30+ minutes each time we ordered drinks. Will never return and will recommend for others to avoid.

This was nothing like they show online, from the drinks being totally different to the food being very bland. They were out of almost everything we wanted to order. The shrimp and grits had maybe a 1/2 cup of grits, definitely not worth $26 bucks. I tried to order a pinot Grigio and they were out. When I asked if they had a red blend wine the server handed me a handwritten list on the back of napkins. The list contained maybe 6 wines, one being labeled a red blend. The wine was a Merlot and definitely not a red blend. Every person around us was either complaining or sending stuff back. $230 for 3 people (only 3 drinks) was 100% not worth it at all. Will not be going back.

We came here during Christmas and enjoyed all the decorations and the holiday themed drinks. The food was all great along with the service.

Barterhouse is an absolute gem in Ybor. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance pulls you right in; stylish, warm, and perfectly balanced between elevated and inviting. It’s the kind of place that feels special without trying too hard!!

The food is outstanding across the board — thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and genuinely delicious. Every bite felt intentional. The cocktails deserve their own applause: creative, perfectly balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they’re doing. Everything was like a science experiment and a magic trick in the most captivating way.

What really elevates the experience, though, is the service. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. A special shoutout to Ryan, who truly sets the tone for the entire place. He was professional, personable, and made sure everything ran seamlessly. You can tell he cares deeply about the guest experience.
Barterhouse nails it on every level. If you’re in Ybor and looking for incredible food, top-tier cocktails, and an atmosphere that feels both fun and refined, this is the place. Can’t wait to come back!!! Especially while it’s decorated so beautifully for the holidays!

Food was fine, but not spectacular. From the time we sat down to our first course was 1hr 8min which is unacceptable in my book.
